Topic: Intellectual property rights related to the vaccine production.

Intellectual property rights are the rights given to people over the creations they made. The creator gets
exclusive rights over his/her creation. Four Types of Intellectual Properties are Copyrights, Patents,
Trademarks, and Trade Secrets.

UAE EFFORTS IN PROMOTING COVID 19 VACCINATION AND BETTER HEALTH SERVICES:

UAE is leading globally in many indicators for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. 70% of the population is
currently fully vaccinated in the drive towards achieving herd immunity. There are currently five primary
approved vaccines circulating in the UAE to protect the population from COVID-19; Pfizer/BioNTech;
Moderna; Oxford/AstraZeneca; Sputnik V and Sinopharm. The UAE was ranked as 1st country where the
number of COVID-19 tests performed since the pandemic’s start exceeded its total population. The
UAE’s focus shifted from managing the effects of the pandemic to vaccinating the population against
COVID-19. The UAE is classified 2nd in the world for the daily distribution of COVID-19 vaccine doses.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN:

The government launched the #TogetherWeRecover campaign, which has become one of the most
impactful initiatives in the country. The UAE National Emergency Crisis and Management Authority
(NCEMA) posted various messages on social media platforms and public spaces to encourage
vaccinations amongst UAE residents. By engaging with the hashtag campaign, the UAE citizens and
residents were well informed and active in showing their support for the national effort to counter this
national challenge.

INFORMATION ON CURRENT PANDEMIC:

The UAE cabinet passed a resolution on publishing and sharing health information related
communicable diseases. It provides information and guidelines on the correct procedure which would
be through spoke persons, experts and government officials authorized to do so. Under this resolution it
is prohibited to publish or circulate false and misleading health related information. Violators will face a
fine if they publish any false or misleading information.

 Spreading awareness and controlling fake news
 Proper use of social media
 Good health care and qualified health workers
 Adequate supply of medicines and equipment (Masks, Sanitizers etc…)
