GEC09 The Life, Works and Writing of Jose Rizal

BSN IV-B Assignment #1

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT RIZAL?

I have always been a fan of history, our heroes and wars. I’m fascinated of how we went
all through that and still stand as a one proud country where its people are educated, skilled and
determined. Rizal, is one of my favorites, I have dived into his life ever since I went to the
Bagumbayan when I was 10 years old. I have heard speculations about whether he should be
deserving of the title “Pambansang Bayani” of the Philippines because some people think that he
did not do enough, to stand up for the country but in reality, he did what he can. I’ve also read
articles that he was a spy for the Spanish colonizers, all the hearsay cannot deny and his works
have spoken for him. He is intelligent despite of being the 7th child of 11 children, he received
the proper education and he stood out, he is a proud Filipino and he cheered for the Youth and
believed that if every Filipino are educated as he is, we can truly change the ways, the policies
and build a better and healthy environment for the country and its men. He founded the Liga
Filipina, a nonviolent-reform society aim to unite the whole archipelago into one compact,
vigorous and homogenous body, to provide mutual protection in every want and necessity, as
defense against all violence and injustice, to give encouragement of instruction, agriculture and
commerce and it is also a study and application of reforms. Through history courses, it was said
that He was never involved with the Katipunan who revolted against the Spaniards but he in my
knowledge he was good friends with Andres Bonifacio who also has met the same fate as Rizal
who was killed by his fellow Filipinos. The history that I know is far from what I have taught in
school that a lot of stories are twisted and manipulated to deceive the Filipinos. Dr. Jose Rizal
has influenced me to strive really hard in life. Education is the important key to this success.
Living his principles will get me somewhere in this life. Remembering his principles teaches me
how to be like him in a way that he made a difference for the country. I want to do the same
thing to in which I am doing something for my country. And I'm not going to forget about his
legacy. With the best of my ability, I will try to continue this legacy.
