YARN
PLASSARD Champetre 2 (3-3-4-5-6) x 50g balls
NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
A pair 5mm knitting needles or size needed to give correct tension; wool
needle; A stitch holder; 2 safety pins; 4 (4-4-4-5-5) buttons.
TENSION
17 sts and 24 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 5mm needles.
To work approx a 13cm x 13cm tension square, using 5mm needles, cast on
22 sts. Work 32 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.
If less sts use smaller needles, if more sts use larger needles.

BACK
Using 5mm needles, cast on 39 (43-47-51-55-59) sts.
Knit 8 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Work in stocking st (beg with a knit row) until work measures 14 (16-18-20-22-
24) cm from beg, ending with a purl row.
Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row mark beg of raglan armholes.
Shape Raglan Armholes -
1st row - K2, K2tog, knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Cont dec one st (as before) at each end of every foll alt row until 21 (23-25-25-
27-25) sts rem, sizes 3 (6-12-18-2yrs) only - then in foll 4th row once.
All Sizes = 19 (21-23-23-25-25) sts. Work 1 row.
Shape Back Neck -
Next row (RS) - K7, turn. Cont on these 7 sts.
Next row - Cast off 2 sts, purl to end = 5 sts.
Next row - K2, K2tog, K1 = 4 sts.
Next row - Cast off 2 sts, purl to end = 2 sts.
Next row - K2tog. Fasten off.
Slip next 5 (7-9-9-11-11) sts onto a stitch holder and leave.
With RS facing, join yarn to rem 7 sts and knit to end.
Complete to correspond with other side of neck.
RIGHT FRONT
Using 5mm needles, cast on 21 (23-25-27-29-31) sts.
Knit 8 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Next row (RS) - Knit.
Next row - Purl to last 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts, K4 (4-4-4-5-5) (these sts form garter
st front band).
Rep last 2 rows until work measures 14 (16-18-20-22-24) cm from beg, working
last row on WS.
Tie a coloured thread at beg of last row mark beg of raglan armhole.
Shape Raglan Armhole -
1st row - Knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
2nd row - Purl to last 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts, K4 (4-4-4-5-5).
Rep last 2 rows until 15 (17-18-19-20-21) sts rem, ending with a 2nd row.
Next row - K4 (4-4-4-5-5), slip these sts onto a safey pin and leave for hood,
knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2 = 10 (12-13-14-14-15) sts.
Dec one st (as before) at raglan edge in every foll alt row 0 (1-1-0-2-2) times,
then in every foll 4th row 2 (2-2-3-2-2) times, at the same time, cast off at neck
edge 3 sts in foll alt row, then 2 sts in every foll alt row 1 (1-2-2-1-2) times, then
one st in every foll alt row 1 (2-1-2-3-2) time/s = 2 sts.
Next row (WS) - P2, turn, K2tog. Fasten off.
LEFT FRONT
Using 5mm needles, cast on 21 (23-25-27-29-31) sts.

7) cm from previous buttonholes, at the same time cont until work measures 14
(16-18-20-22-24) cm from beg, working last row on WS.
Tie a coloured thread at end of last row mark beg of raglan armhole.
Shape Raglan Armhole -
Cont to work buttonholes, 1st row - K2, K2tog, knit to end.
2nd row - K4 (4-4-4-5-5), purl to end.
Rep last 2 rows until 14 (16-17-18-19-20) sts rem, ending with a 1st row, thus
completing buttonholes.
Next row - K4 (4-4-4-5-5), slip these sts onto a safey pin and leave for hood,
purl to end.
Dec one st (as before) at raglan edge in next row 0 (1-1-0-1-1) time/s, then in
every foll alt row 0 (0-0-0-1-1) time/s, then in every foll 4th row 2 (2-2-3-2-2)
times, at the same time, cast off at neck edge 3 sts in foll alt row, then 2 sts in
every foll alt row 1 (1-2-2-1-2) time/s, then one st in every foll alt row 1 (2-1-2-
3-2) time/s = 2 sts.
Next row (WS) - P2, turn, K2tog. Fasten off.
RIGHT SLEEVE
Using 5mm needles, cast on 29 (31-33-35-37-39) sts.
Knit 8 rows garter st (1st row is RS).
Work 8 (8-10-12-14-16) rows stocking st (beg with a knit row).
Next row - K2, inc in next st, knit to last 3 sts, inc in next st, K2.
Cont inc one st (as before) at each end of foll 10th (10th-12th-14th-16th-18th)
row = 33 (35-37-39-41-43) sts.
Cont without shaping until work measures 14 (16-18-20-22-25) cm from beg,
ending with a purl row.
Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of raglan shaping.
Shape Raglan -
1st row - K2, K2tog, knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Cont dec one st (as before) in every foll alt row until 11 (11-15-17-17-17) sts rem,
sizes 12, 18, 2yrs and 4yrs only - then in every foll 4th row until 13 sts rem.
All Sizes - Work 1 row. **
Next row (RS) - Cast off 3 sts, knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Work 1 row.
Next row - Cast off 2 (2-3-3-3-3) sts, knit to last 4 sts, sl 1, K1, psso, K2.
Work 1 row. Rep last 2 rows once more. Fasten off.
LEFT SLEEVE
Work as for Right Sleeve to **.
Complete to correspond with Right Sleeve, reversing the shapings.
HOOD
Using mattress st seam, join raglan seams, noting that tops of sleeves form part
of neckline. With RS facing slip sts from right front band safety pin onto 5mm
needle, knit up 10 (11-12-13-13-14) sts evenly along right side of neck, 5 (5-7-7-
7-7) sts evenly along right sleeve, 15 (15-17-17-19-19) sts evenly around back
neck (incl sts from stitch holder), 5 (5-7-7-7-7) sts evenly along left sleeve, 10
(11-12-13-13-14) sts evenly along left side of neck, then knit across sts from left
front band safety pin = 53 (55-63-65-69-71) sts.
1st row (WS) - K4 (4-4-4-5-5), purl to last 4 (4-4-4-5-5) sts, K4 (4-4-4-5-5).
2nd row - K25 (26-30-31-33-34), inc in next st, K1 (centre st - place a marker),
inc in next st, knit to end = 55 (57-65-67-71-73) sts.
Keeping garter st at each end correct, work 3 rows, moving marker for each row.
Next row - Knit to within one st of centre st, inc in next st, K1 (centre st), inc in
next st, knit to end = 57 (59-67-69-73-75) sts.
Cont inc 2 sts (as before) in every foll 4th row until there are 65 (67-75-77-81-
83) sts. Cont without shaping until hood measures 17 (17-18-18-19-19) cm,
working last row on WS.
Shape Top of Hood -
1st row (RS) - Knit to within 3 sts of centre st, sl 1, K2tog, psso, K1 (centre st),
K3tog, knit to end = 61 (63-71-73-77-79) sts.
Cont dec 4 sts (as before) in every foll alt row until 45 (47-51-53-53-55) sts rem.
Work 3 rows without shaping. Cast off rem sts loosely.
FINISHING
Join side and sleeve seams. Using a flat seam, sew cast off edges of hood tog
to form centre top seam. Sew on buttons to corespond with buttonholes. Sew
in all ends.
