Subject: Queries regarding MEng ECE Winter 2022 term

Hi,
I am an international student from India, have received offer of admission for the Master of Engineering
in Electrical and Computer program for the winter 2022 intake.
According to the latest tweet by IRCC, it is mentioned that November study permit applicants might
not get visa before Jan 22 term begins, and I got an admit on 21st October, so I applied for my visa in
November. I have already paid my first-year tuition fees.
Below I mentioned some queries:
1. What will I have to do if I don't get a visa before the term begins?
2. If I choose an online mode of course delivery for study from India before my visa decision
arrived, it will affect my Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) duration?
3. If I will get a visa nearer to the course begin date and initially, I registered for an online course
then after reaching campus am I eligible to study in person for the same course?
4. What's the deadline (last date) to reach the campus for in-person studies?
I humbly request you to please provide some guidance regarding the above-mentioned queries.

Hello Parth
1. If your study permit application is not processed in time, you can either start the program online
and come to Canada after the application is approved or you may request to defer your
admission to the next term.

2. If you study online from your home country, the time spent studying online will not be counted
towards validity period of your PGWP.

3. You do not need to have registered for in person courses to be able to travel to Canada. You
can travel even if you are registered for online courses. Please consult with your department
whether they would be able to accommodate your request to change the mode of delivery from
online to in person after the term begins.

4. Students can travel anytime during the Winter 2022 term as long as they have their visa, are
enrolled in the term and are vaccinated.
