TITLE: Flight controls - Control column - Utilization of tool 98S27305009-000 for new
drum installation
1. GENERAL
A. The aim of this document is to give instructions for drilling a new drum
(P/N S2738115820200 for assembly S2738115800200, or S2738115820400 from
assembly S2738115800400) before installation on control column.
For identification, see CMM 27-31-11, Figure 3, Item 150 for the IPL.
NOTE: After installation of a new drum, functional test should be required on aircraft. This
test is not included in this Technical Instruction. For functional test, refer to ATR
documentation requiring this Technical Instruction.
2. INSTRUCTIONS
On affected control column, remove the handwheel as per AMM (JIC) 27-11-11 RAI 10000, the
drum Item 17 to be replaced and the spindle Item 14 (P/N S2738115420000 or
S2738115420200).
See CMM 27-31-11, Page Block 300 for disassembly instructions.
As per Figure 1
- Re-install on control column the spindle and the handwheel (chart holder must be removed
as per CMM instructions).
- Install support Item 4 on hanwheel (secured with screws Item 2), and support Item 1,
(secured with screws Item 11). Install on spindle the washers Item 9 and Item 15 and secure
with nut Item 16.

- Install pin Item 5 on support Item 1. Adjust support Item 3 in order that pin goes through the
control column rigging hole without stress. Secure support Item 3 with associated screws.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Supports Item 3 and Item 1 must be maintained secured until the
end of the procedure.
- Remove 6 screws Item 2, rotate handwheel (do not disconnect handwheel from support
Item 4).
- Remove spindle (remove washers Items 9 and 15 and nut Item 16).
As per Figure 2
- Rotate the handwheel and secure with screws Item 2 the handwheel spindle and drum.
- Install on spindle the washers Items 9 and 15 and secure with nut Item 16.
- Through the support Item 3, drill a hole diameter 6.000 to 6.022 mm (0.23622 to 0.23708 in)
on the drum with a reamer.
