1. About Reading Explorer
Reading Explorer is a series of academic reading textbooks jointly produced by National
Geographic Learning and Cengage Learning. The reading texts are true stories selected from
National Geographic magazines, allowing students to acquire useful knowledge while
learning English, which greatly enhances their understanding of the world. The key teaching
concepts of Reading Explorer include: leading students to get to know multiple text types,
teaching students multiple reading skills and strategies systematically, strengthening
students’ reading ability in stages and encouraging learners to read independently.

*BetaKid has reached a strategic cooperation

agreement with NGL in December 2020, and
has obtained the official authorization of the
third edition of RE.

1. About Reading Explorer
Reading Explorer includes six levels
(Level F-Level 5), aiming at improving
students' academic reading skills
gradually. Each level has 12 units. Two
reading texts on one topic are in each
unit, equipped with an original
National Geographic video. Each unit
is also supplemented by a reviewing
lesson to help students reinforce the
knowledge and reading skills they
learned.

1. There are 59 updated HD videos in RE
Third Edition (highlighted in bold). Vivid
pictures and videos have always been a
major feature of the NGL textbooks.
Nearly 80% of the pictures and videos
have been updated to refresh the
textbooks, allowing students to “learn
to read while exploring”. This breaks the
traditional teaching mode of reading
courses, and highly raises students’
learning interest.

2. RE Third Edition covers more new
unit topics. The new unit topics

frequency academic words (star-
marked words) are selected and

them and to help teachers clarify
their teaching goals.
