Airport in South Sulawesi


South Sulawesi (Indonesian: Sulawesi Selatan) is a province in the southern
peninsula of Sulawesi. The Selayar Islands archipelago is also part of the province.
South Sulawesi is located at 4°20'S 120°15'E and covers an area of 45,764.53 square
kilometres. The province is bordered by Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi to the
north, the Gulf of Bone and Southeast Sulawesi to the east, Makassar Strait to the west,
and Flores Sea to the south.

In South Sulawesi, there are several airports such us:


1. Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport,
2. Palopo Lagaligo Airport,
3. Andi Djemma Airport,
4. Pontiku Airport,and
5. Arung Palakka airport.
1. Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport (Makassar)
Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport is an airport in Makassar, Indonesia. It is
located 20 km (12 mi) northeast of Makassar's city centre and is operated by PT.
Angkasa Pura I. The new terminal was opened on 20 August 2008. Sultan Hasanuddin
International Airport is located on the border of Makassar and Maros, a suburb in South
Sulawesi, approximately 15 minutes 20 km (12 mi) from Makassar city via
freeway/tollway or 20 minutes 23 km (14 mi) via highway.

2. Palopo Lagaligo Airport (Luwu, Palopo)


Bua Airport, also known as Palopo Lagaligo Airport is an airport in Luwu
Regency, South Sulawesi, Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. The airport serves the city
of Palopo, which is located 10 km from the airport itself. The airport has a land area of
about 100 hectares. To accommodate larger aircraft, the airport's facility was upgraded
in 2015. With a budget allocation amounting to Rp 25 billion, the government has fix a
number of supporting facilities including runways which has now been extended to
1,400 m x 30 m. In addition, the airport is now equipped with a taxiway which a length
of 191 meters and a width of 18 meters, and also an apron which has a length of 80
meters and a width of 60 meters. Runway lights are also added to allow aircraft landing
during nighttime. Fence surrounding the airport are also added to avoid animals from
entering the airport ground.
3.Andi Djemma Airport (North Luwu)
Andi Jemma Airport is an airport near Masamba, the capital city of North Luwu
Regency in the province of South Sulawesi on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. The
airport resides at an elevation of 55 metres (180 ft) above mean sea level. It has
one runway designated 02/20 with an asphalt surface measuring 900 by 23 meters
(2,953 ft × 75 ft) The length of the runway Airports Andi Jemma meters to 2/20 size
2,150 by 45 metres (7,054 ft × 148 ft) the beginning of the month August 2014. Since
August 2014, the service was left to an SOE in charge of the management of several
airports in eastern Indonesia, namely PT. Angkasa Pura 1 (Persero) and the Government
of North Luwu Regency(begins division in August 2014).

4.Pongtiku Airport (Tana Toraja)


Pongtiku Airport is an airport in Rantetayo, Tana Toraja Regency, Province South
Sulawesi Indonesia. Airport runway has a size of 900 × 23 m. Distance from Makale
city about 9 km. This airport is planned to be relocated because it can not be developed.
900 meter runway can't longer be extended due to hit the ravines and hills. The new
airport will have a runway is planned to become 12/30 measuring 2,745 by 90 meters
(295 ft × 9.006).
5. Arung Palakka/Mappalo Ulaweng Airport (Bone)
Arung Palakka airports located in the district Ulaweng Awangpone mapala village,
Bone regency, South Sulawesi. The airport is about 10 km from Kota Watampone and
much as 2 air carriers that operate is Aviastar Mandiri and Susi Air.
As for route airlines are: 1) Makassar-Bone, Bone-Makassar. 2) Bone-Selayar Selayar-
Bone. 3) Mamuju-Bone, Bone-Mamuju. 4) Kolaka-Bone, Bone-Kolaka.
