Project description in plain language, approximately 25 words:

Design the PCB and sensors for the flight control unit for the Auburn University Rocketry Association’s 2022 Competition Rocket competing in NASA’s University
Launch Initiative.

Accomplishmen
ts since last status report:

Settled on a new communication scheme between sensors and Raspberry Pi. Whole team is on board.
Decided to refurbish previous year’s ground station design. Obtained design documents for the ground station.
Subscale launch was successful and the subscale-computer collected flight data (not that its very usable due to the body of the vehicle causing undesired
trajectory).
Made the decision to not use the GPS module as there are GPS devices in other subsystems of the vehicle that data can be used for trajectory and recovery
verification.
Seokhee is developing the full scale PCB designs before winter break. The rest of the team is learning and writing communication protocols for communication
between the Raspberry Pi and all devices (radio, altimeter, IMU, and servos)

Obstacles encountered since last status report:

Risks facing the project:

Our team is becoming overwhelmed by the workload based on the deadlines we are facing from AURA - we have had to work overtime in addition to our normal
schedules.

With eight people, we cannot find a consistent meeting time for us all - we are having a hard time using our additional team members to effectively reduce the
workload due to the amount of software construction during this phase of the project
We have no consistent meeting time and it has caused those most available to carry the brunt of the work.

Objectives for the next week:

● Implement and test libraries

o Radio - Jordan Harris and John Choi
o Servos - Andrew Kuban
o IMU - Jordan Coleman and Jacob Howard
o Altimeter - Robert Nance and Jinrui Lan
● Complete design for typical PCB for full-scale launch (due November 19th) (Seokhee Han)
o Altimeter + IMU + Pi Zero + Radio + Power Supply
● Reporting
o Complete Critical Design Report for NASA over winter break (Robert Nance)
o Complete project proposal final version (John Choi, Robert Nance, Jinrui Lan, Andrew Kuban)
o Complete weekly report (Jordan Coleman, Robert Nance)

Comments:

AURA will be funding this project nearly in its entirety.
