Objective: Meet with school safety coordinators and discuss revisions to safety
plans
LKES Met: 2,3,4,5, and 8
Description of Task: I met with all of the school safety site coordinators in our district. We
discussed our plans and the changes that needed to be made. After the
meeting, we made revisions and submitted the plans for review.

My goal was to learn more about what goes in to the school safety
plan and revise the plan myself.
I am the school safety coordinator and was solely responsible for
updated and revising the school safety plan.
I learned about the different aspects of the plan. I also learned about
the attention to detail needed to complete the plan appropriately. I
learned how to make decisions about roles I placed staff in based on
the relationship I have with them and the particular skills they have
that are suited for different roles within the safety plan.
It was challenging because of the importance of the task and the
complexity of the document that needed to be updated and revised. It
was beneficial that I knew a lot of the procedure having been a teacher
in the school for nine years previous. I also know a lot of the staff very
well and that informed my decisions regarding roles and placement
The response was positive from the district safety coordinator. Very
few corrections were asked of me once I submitted my plan. They
agreed with my decisions and asked me to change some small details
to make it more in line with the other plans in the district.
It was a benefit to me having been in the school for so long. I was not

starting from square one with our plan. I contributed a lot in terms of
hours spend combing through the plan looking for issues and making
adjustments from the previous administrative team.
I will continue to adjust the plan as needed. I will also be in
communication with individuals in the plan that will need their roles
specified so they know what they need to do in the situation where the
plan is needed.
