Summary

This topic ''Teaching in Parables'' is the first chapter which was written by Ellen G White given
by God in the book called Christ's Object Lesson. The content of this chapter is about the
parables that Jesus teaches and the reasons why He used this kind of Parables instead of direct
words while He was teaching on this world, which will tell the glory of God deeply and to show
the truth without hurting the listeners.

Reaction

While Jesus was being with us in the form of man used to teach in the hills and plains and in
times of teaching there comes many kind off people who were sick, healthy, priests and rabbis,
scribes and elders, Herodians and rulers, world-loving, bigoted, ambitious men. In order to deal
with all of this kinds of people, Jesus need to teach indirectly for not hurting their mind. And his
words tells us about the glory of God that most of the doesn't know because after falling into
sin, man did not understand and know the glory of God like before while we sinned, and telling
of his creations, it also tell us about the importance of Sabbath that He finish all his creation
before that day. But through is creations that we see on our surrounding still tell us about the
glory of God. The flowers, the trees, the stars, the sun and many other creations we see shows
the glory of Him and that He is God the creator. Man didn't see God through his creation,
instead we worship his creations which become the barrier between God and man.
In the earlier part of His ministry we see that Jesus teach them very plain and
understandable. As we can see here, ''Christ had spoken to the people in words so plain that all

His hearers might have grasped truths which would make them wise unto salvation. But in
many hearts the truth had taken no root, and it had been quickly caught away'' That’s why he is
speaking is parables and there is no other method of teaching them. But for those who truly
have the desire of knowing divine things, they still understand what he is saying.

Reflection

To my point of view, teaching in parables teach us how to think deeper of his words. When
we are just taught in a plain words we don’t have that feeling and the teaching just go away to
our other ear as it gets inside the other ear. But personally, man can be different depending on
the time, place and situations, I usually prefer plain words but as well as parables for
sometimes. Which makes me wonder how stubborn will there be at those times. But, thinking
right now a days, I think were on the same situation where we don’t want to hear the words of
God and truly we worship His creations rather than him. As it's written ''Thou shalt have no
other God before me'', what we put the most important in our life is such as money, materials,
luxury and many other things which is the same as worshiping them when we put those higher
than God.

Personal Application and Recommendation

Knowing how mankind can be stubborn, for my ministry I will be facing many things such
like what Jesus have faced, not only me just like many other ministry workers did faced. In time
of those, Jesus is the image that we have to resemble. Depending on the person we will faced,
depending on the time and place we have to know how to teach to touch the heart of the
listeners. Knowing what and how important the Sabbath like the creator finish making
everything before that day, I have to keep his Sabbath more sincere.

I recommend that whenever reading the words of God, it's better to start with a prayer
asking to understand. For all the peoples I want to you be humble and put God words in our
heart always in times of temptation and happy moments.
