EDUCATION IS FOR EVERYONE

Shalimar R. Briva

Good morning, my beloved friends, and to everyone else who has come to see me. I am
delighted to have the opportunity to speak in front of you on the value of education in our life and
society. I believe that education is our companion that will accompany us on our journey, which is
why primary education, as well as education at the secondary level, is extremely important in a
child's formative years. It molds our personalities and abilities at work and assists us in discovering
our full potential. However, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization
(UNESCO) (2020) claims that about 258 million children and youth are out of school. So, we need to
do something to help those poor children go to school, as education is and should be free. No one
should, and no one can, stop someone from going to school. I repeat, it is and should be free.
Education is not a privilege. As most people would say, it is a human right. Everyone has the
legal right to educate themselves and grow in life, regardless of race, color or gender. Every child
must receive a free elementary school education. Secondary school (including technical training)
must be available to everyone. Higher education must be equally accessible to all. And, basic
education should be encouraged and made available to people who did not complete primary
school. This is how the government and schools should give education. It must be for everyone. It
must be free and accessible, as it is the right of every person.
In addition, education helps to alleviate poverty, diminish social inequalities, and empower
women. It also provides considerable economic benefits to a country and aids societies in achieving
long-term peace and development. Hence, education is significant.
We need a world with educated people to thrive and prosper. Therefore, as fortunate
individuals who have had the opportunity to have a proper and good education, we should all work
together to ensure that deprived individuals become entitled to their right to learn and achieve an
education. Thank you!
