established local companies as well as exciting new concepts to set up
bussinees there.
• Setia Alam’s masterplan was formulated in line with S P Setia’s development
philosophy of Live, Learn, Work and Play to deliver fully integrated and
sustainable township that caters to people from all walks of life.
• The NKVE_Setia Alam Link or Jalan Meru, Federal Highway, New North Klang
Straits Bypass Expressway and KESAS give easy access to people.
• The many parks allow residents to enjoy the outdoors conveniently while
facilities such as Setia Alam Club, Setia Badminton Academy and Setia City
Mall offer a plethora of activities for resident of all ages and interests.

• The neighbourhood of the proposed site is compact with
highrise building.
• Lack of attraction and entertainment in Setia Alam
• New generation lack of physical skills and more attach to
digital world rather than the real world.
• Lack of appreciation towards Malaysian Identity, history
and culture.
• Incresing demand of theme park among Malaysian in
helping to grow the tourism market.
• People live indoors, have sedentary lifestyles and are
trapped in their own way of doing things.
• Everything is structured and institutionalised nowadays,
that’s make human beings have become more and more
herd and uniform.
• The need of tourism vision in Setia Alam in order to boost
the economy and business activity.

CLIENT
• ESCAPE is owned and operated by Sim Leisure Group Ltd, an
internationally-renowned theme park designer and builder, a PLC listed on
Singapore Exchange. The founder, Sim Choo Kheng.
• Sim recollected his childhood moments and refined those ideas for
ESCAPE, presenting it as the alternative to conventional mechanical theme
parks.
• Today, ESCAPE's success has not only won many accolades but also proved
the world wrong with this Penang-born brand to expand to many cities.

THEME PARK ISSUE IN
MALAYSIA

• Most theme park are made by mechanical ride which leads to the need
on lot of energy and water waste.
• Theme Park in Malaysia did not represent the identity of Malaysian.
• Most of theme park are too focus on the fun ride and enjoyment without
any educational input.
• Theme park which need a lot of energy will be abandoned in the future
when it is not reliable anymore.

Design Statement
“To create a new attraction in Setia Alam which will give the excitement to play and learn to
appreciate the culture and history of Malaysia”

Objective
1. To provide a sustainable theme park with based on cultural settings and
identity.
2. To educate people to appreciate and learnt from the history in order to
create a better future.
3. To create a new landmark and tourist attraction from local and
international.
4. To enhance the sensory development of new generation and the quality of
their daily life.

Proposed theme
park
• Inspired by mischievous childhood in the kampong by the rainforest –
climbing trees, launching friends into the air with tree branches, diving from
the treetop into the pond, racing downhill on makeshift bicycles. Those
were the good old days where life skills were learnt through fun and
adventure.

• We live indoors, have sedentary lifestyles and are trapped in our own way
of doing things. There is a need to escape, literally and in our mindset.

• Endorphins are happy hormones, unlike adrenaline, which pumps you up in

the face of danger.

• Bringing retro-eco fun to urban settings is another benefit that can entice
children to switch off their computer games, get up to flex their limbs and
indulge in the pleasures of physical activity
