mandala depends on the
yarn and hook you use. My
mandala is approx. 20 cm (8
inches) large – when
stretched.
Abbreviations and Stitch Guide (US terms)______________
ch - chain
ss (slip stitch) - insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw yarn up
and pull 2nd lp through the 1st lp on hook.
sc (single crochet) - insert hook in indicated stitch, yo, draw
up a lp, yo and pull through both lps on hook.
hdc (half double crochet) - yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo,
draw up a lp, yo, pull through 3 lps.
dc (double crochet) – yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw
up a lp, *yo, pull through 2 lps* twice.
tr (treble crochet) – yo twice, insert hook in indicated st, yo,
draw up a lp, *yo, pull through 2 lps* three times.
BL – back loop
sp(s) – space(s)
st(s) – stitch(s)
rnd(s) – round(s)

Pc (popcorn) - *yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] twice* 5
times in same st, drop lp from hook, insert hook from front to back through top of first dc
made, place dropped lp on hook and pull through st.
Fan-stitch – make (1dc, ch1, 1dc, ch1, 1dc) in same st.
*…* - *crochet following directions* as many times as indicated

INSTRUCTIONS

Rnd 1. With Yarn H. Make magic ring, ch5 (counts as 1dc and ch2-sp), *1dc into ring, ch2* 7
times, join with ss in first sp. (8 dc, 8 ch2-sps)

Rnd 2. Continue with Yarn H. Ch4 (counts as 1dc and ch1-sp), 1dc in same sp as join, ch2, *(1dc,
ch1, 1dc) in next sp, ch2* 7 times, join with ss in first sp. (16 dc, 8 ch1-sps, 8 ch2-sps)

Rnd 3. Change to Yarn C in first ch1, cut Yarn H.

Ch3 (counts as dc), 1dc in next sp, 1dc in next st, 3dc in next sp, *1dc in next st, 1dc in
next sp, 1dc in next st, 3dc in next sp* 7 times, join with ss in first sp. (48 dc)

Rnd 4. Change to Yarn G in first ch1. Cut Yarn С.

Ch3, skip st at a base of ch and next st, 1sc in next st, ch4, 1ss in third ch from hook, ch1,
skip 1 st on Rnd 3, 1sc in next st, *ch3, skip 1 st, 1sc in next st, ch4, 1ss in third ch from
hook, ch1, skip 1 st on Rnd 3, 1sc in next st* 11 times, 1ss in next sp. (12 ch3-sps, 12 ch-
sp with picots)

Rnd 5. Change to Yarn B in first ch1. Cut yarn G.
*Ch7, skip next sp with picot, 1sc in next sp* 12 times, 1ss in each of 3ch of first ch7-sp.
(12 ch7-sps, 12 sc, 3ss in the end)

Rnd 6. Continue with Yarn B.

Ch9 (counts as 1dc and ch6-sp), *1dc in next sp, ch6* 11 times, join with ss in
third ch in the beginnig of the rnd. (12 dc, 12 ch6-sps)

Rnd 7. Change to Yarn E in first ch1. Cut Yarn B.

Ch3 (doesn’t count as a st), 1pc in same st at a base of ch, ch4, 1sc in next sp,
ch4, *1pc in next dc, ch4, 1sc in next sp, ch4* 11 times, join with ss in first pc of
the rnd. (12 pc, 12 sc, 24 ch4-sps)

Rnd 8. Change to Yarn F in first ch1. Cut Yarn E.
*Ch3, skip sp, 1fan-st in next sc, ch3, skip sp, 1sc in next pc* 12 times. (12 fan-st,
12 sc, 24 ch3-sps)

Rnd 9. Continue wth Yarn F.

Ch8 (counts as dc and ch5-sp), skip sp, 1dc in central dc of fan-st, ch5, skip sp,
*1dc in next sc, ch5, skip sp, 1dc in central dc of fan-st, ch5, skip sp* 11 times,
join with ss in third ch in the beginning of the rnd. (24 dc, 24 ch5-sps)

Rnd 10. Change to Yarn D in first ch1. Cut Yarn F.

Ch1 (doesn’t count as st), *(1sc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1tr, 1dc, 1hdc, 1sc) in next sp* 24
times, join with ss in first sc after ch1. (48 sc, 48 hdc, 48 dc, 24 tr)

Rnd 11. Change to Yarn H in first ch1. Cut Yarn D.
Ch1 (doesn’t count as st), 1ss (BL) in each of next 3sc, ch3 (wrap sp around the
ring), 1ss (BL) in same st, *7ss (BL), ch3 (wrap sp around the ring), 1ss (BL) in
same st* 23 times, 3ss (BL), join with ss in first ss of the rnd, fasten off.
