Abstract
Having a healthy lifestyle is one of the best things we can do for our own benefit. Once you
acquire healthy habits in your life, you become physically and mentally strong. Likewise, the
people around you will see you, as someone strong and healthy. When you exercise, eat healthy
food and sleep the hours your body needs to rest, you improve your quality of life and only

Buda, who was a wise and visionary meditator, on whose teachings Buddhism was
founded, once stated: " Keeping the body healthy is an obligation... Otherwise, we can not keep
our mind strong and clear”. It is a truly important quote that reminds us the essential balance that
must exists between our body and mind to feel completely good. With a healthy lifestyle, life
becomes more enjoyable and our daily activities more bearable. I think that having healthy habits
such as exercising, eating healthy, sleeping the necessary hours, bring about benefits for our
lives.
First, exercise is good for all parts of the body, including the mind. According to the
website called "Family Doctor", physical activity helps prevent diseases such as heart disease,
osteoporosis, diabetes and obesity. It also allows you to look and feel good, avoiding problems of
low self-esteem. For example, if someone suffers from overweight and low self-esteem due to
his/her physical appearance, with a daily exercise routine he/she can burn fat, lose weight and
feel good physically and mentally again. In adittion, excercise reduces stress and anxiety. It helps
you release all those negative emotions that prevent you from being well.
Second, healthy food improves your quality of life. According to the "DKV salud"
website, a healthy eating helps protect health and prevent diseases such as cardiovascular
disease, diabetes, obesity and cancer. It also provides nutrients that your body needs for its
proper development and functioning. For example, meats are proteins that help build muscles.
Fruits, vegetables, grains, are foods with fibers that help an efficient digestion. In addition, good
nutrition keeps our skin healthy, free from oily, acne and impurities. On the other hand, healthy
food gives us energy to do all our activities of the day in the best way.

Last but not least, getting the necessary hours of sleep has positive effects on our lives.
According to an article in “Semana Magazine”, adults should sleep between 7 and 9 hours to get
a good rest. Sleeping the right hours, delays aging and improves your physical appearance. Other
people will see you younger, healthier and more attractive. Also, exercise improves your mood.
