Date of week beginning Plan of action evaluation

11th October Begin production booklet, I managed to finish these things
within the week however I had to
crew list, prop list and change the prop list at a later date
recces because my props changed
18th October Script writing and story Script writing went very well, and I
managed to finish it in a few days I
boarding then made further improvements with
my storyboarding
25th October Filming Filming took much longer than
intended. I had to shot for three
weekends, doing two lots of reshoots
and replacing my main cast member
mid-way through production, along
with having to be in it myself which I
didn’t want to do
1st November Reshoots and editing As said before my reshoots were quite
exstensive, however editing was a
relatively quick process once I began

and moves the needle onto the vinyl to play

TITLE CARD: a children’s book like title card

appears on the screen saying: (the title of the ‘HEY’ by the pixies plays as the title card
short film) comes on screen

TITLE CARD: PART 1: DESMOND

‘HEY’ By the pixies continues to play

ESTABLSIHING SHOT of office building. Quiet sound accompanies the arrival of the title
SUBTITLES ON SCREEN on screen.
Show “PLACE OF WORK” DESMOND enters
from the right side of the shot carrying his
briefcase walking like a loner.

MID SHOT from the back of DESMOND

looking up at the office building looking very DESMOND lets out a large sigh
sad and depressed about having to go into the
building.

CLOSE UP on DESMONDS face showing his

visible anguish about going into the building

QUICK PAN to JIM leaning on the office

building with one leg up smoking. DESMOND
shows visible disgust on his face. The camera
lingers on Jim for a while before cutting back to
Desmond as he walks into the office JIMS loud over the top coughing

ARIEL/BIRDS EYE VIEW SHOT of

DESMONDS clean and tidy desk. He places his
brief case down on the desk and opens it. Inside
there is a lunch box and some books and a note
pad

General foley sounds of the brief case clips and

POV SHOT inside the office fridge as him taking the items out
DESMOND places his lunch in there.

BIRDS EYE VIEW/ARIEL SHOT of

DESMONDS lunch box that says on it
“DESMONDS DO NOT EAT OR ELSE”

MID SHOT of DESMOND closing the fridge.

He hears banging coming from his right and
turns around he begins to become infuriated by
JIM

QUICK PAN SHOT to JIM hitting the

photocopier trying to make it work. He is
visibly a slob with his top button undone and his BANGING AND PHOTOCOPIER NOISES
tie lose fitting and sleeves rolled up.

TITLE CARD: PART 2: JIM

POV SHOT looking up at JIM as he looks

bewildered as to why the copier won’t work and
as he hits it. He eventually looks at it and gives
up.

ARIEL shot of his desk and surrounding area

The same type of shot as DESMONDS desk,
however, his desk is messy and untidy much
like his clothes and general aroma.
Sighs and bangs as JIM hits the photo copier.
MULTIPLE SHOTS of him not doing any work
on his computer, e.g., messing around with his
feet up and throwing paper into the trash can.

CLOSE UP on JIMS bored face as he locks eyes

with the fridge in the corner of the room. He
gets out of his chair to walk over.

WIDE ANGLE TRACKING SHOT of JIM

walking across the office into the fridge room he
opens the fridge to find DESMONDS food in
there, music swells and JIMS eyes light up. Foley sounds for trash can throws keys typing
and eating sweet wrappers.

DESMOND slams the door of the fridge shit

indicating that JIM cannot eat his food under
any circumstance.

CLOSE UP SHOT of DESMOND looking

angry and stern towards JIM FOLEY of chair squeaking as he gets up

CLOSE UP of JIM looking bored and

unimpressed by what DESMOND has done.

Swelling classical music
WIDE ANGLE SHOT of office kitchen as Jim
strolls off

CLOSE UP SHOT of a clock showing time has

passed

Sound of fridge slamming and neon sound

fridge makes

HIGH ANGLE CLOSE UP SHOT of

DESMOND sleeping at his desk snoring loudly.

LOW ANGLE MID SHOT of DESMOND

working hard at his desk, getting stressed and
looking over at JIM looking disgusted.

CUT BACK to JIM in the same position snoring

CUT BACK again to DESMOND stressing out

and rubbing his face and eyes and sits for a
moment.

Clock ticking
CLOSE UP of the toilet sign, it’s in a cartoon
style font

WIDE ANGLE: DESMOND walks past JIMS

desk to the toilet.
Sounds of JIM snoring

QUICK ZOOM: as DESMOND walks past, JIM

stops snoring opens one eye, then shoots up to
go to the fridge.

POV SHOT again inside the fridge, you can

clearly see the food box with the sticker on it.
Gold light shines form the inside of the fridge as
swelling music plays again

ARIEL SHOT of the box being placed on the

counter, JIM rips of the label along with the lid

MID SHOT of DESMOND siting down in the

toilet with a newspaper as he hears JIM scream
with joy

CLOSE UP of a Microwave as JIM heats up the

food in the container, he dances round the
kitchen as music plays

EXTREME CLSOE UP of tap running as

DESMOND washes his hand.

CLOSE UP again the microwave as it finishes

cooking, JIM gets it out and takes it back to his
desk and is about to take his first bite when
DESMOND walks into the kitchen. SWELLING MUSIC, FRIDGE OPENING

TITLE CARD: PART 3 BRIEF CASE

MID SHOT OF JIM about to have his first bite

when he puts the food down and ducks as
DESMONDS brief case is lobbed towards him.

QUICK PAN LOW ANGLE SLOW ZOOM

shot of DESMOND looking very angrily
towards JIM

Faint screaming sound

CUT BACK TO JIM in the ducked position.
The two look at each other for a minute before
intense chase music begins to play. Jim runs to
the door and towards the stairs.

DYNAMIC CAMERA MOVEMENT follows

JIM as he runs down the stairs. A co-worker is
running up the stairs as he attempts to go down,
he throws him out of the way and he falls over
the edge of the stairs. DESMOND follows
shortly behind.

LONG TRACKING shot of JIM running

through the various hallways and encountering
people as DESMOND follows behind pushing
people aside as he runs through.

MID SHOT of JIM as he reaches a dead end.

JIM reaches for a mug and throws it at
DESMOND, he misses and Desmond charges
him into the wall and hits him with some heavy
punches. The two break for a second as JIM
looks to be visibly hurt, however he turns and
punches DESMOND in the mouth, the two
scuffle more until they eventually fall through a
door and end up lying on the floor.

POV SHOT LOW ANGLE DESMOND AND

JIM are laying looking up at all there co
workers and there manager sitting at the
forefront.

WIDE ANGLE SYMMETRICAL shot of the

two men sitting outside the front of the office.
DESMOND with his box of half empty food
and a box filled with neatly packed items from
his desk. JIM has a tatty box with some stuff
thrown in it and a bag of frozen peas on his
head. The two sit for a moment before JIM
stands up and extends his hand for DESMOND.

MID SHOT of the two-standing looking

forward toward the end of the roadside by side.
DESMOND offers the some of the boxed food MAN SCREAMING
to Jim, Jim looks at him then takes the box and
the two begin to walk off as shelter from the
storm by bob Dylan begins to play and credits
role.
