TITLES
Blackness. The words Bedtime Story slowly FADES IN with a
non-diegetic crescendo metallic sound, similar to a marmots
scream starting. The sound of thunder is heard, which stops
the previous soundtrack. The screen flashes, and when the
lightning ends the words have disappeared.
JUMP CUT
EXT. OUTSIDE OF HOUSE
LONG SHOT shows the room of JAMES from outside. It shows it is
night time, and STEADY CAM is used.
FADE TO BLACK / FADE IN
IN. BED ROOM NIGHT
EXTREME CLOSE UP of JAMES face, showing his eyes opening.
The camera PANS showing the room, establishing the
environment; meanwhile JAMES is seen looking around, examining
the room for a presence.
Next there is a POV SHOT from JAMES perspective, showing the
wardrobe at the end of his bed. This POV shot is made using a
cell phone camera, with the flashlight turned on. The camera
is very shaky, and it rapidly goes from one point of the room
to another. The camera stops on the wardrobe, and it proceeds
to slowly TILTs up. For this scene SHAKEY CAM should be used.
(NOTE: the wardrobe should be slightly opened, but the
audience should not be able to see inside).
As the camera TILTs up, the non-diegetic crescendo sound of
violins can be heard. The camera stops ZOOMING IN and a tennis
ball falls from the wardrobe. The sound of every bounce is
AMPLIFIED.
JAMES throws the phone away. The camera is now on the ground,
and it captures the phone sliding across the floor in a CLOSE
UP. The sound of the phone falling has to be amplified. The
phone lands with the flashlight pointing to the ceiling.
The camera is now at the end of the bed, showing a close up of
JAMES from the end of the bed. We can see JAMES alarmed face
as he hides half of it under the blanket.
The camera shows a CLOSE UP of the door opening and a
screeching sound is heard. A humanoid figure enters the room,
and he slowly proceeds towards the wardrobe. The camera will
TRACK his movements.
Once the humanoid figure reached the wardrobe, an OVER THE
Bedtime Story Rev. 06/11/17

SHOULDER shot will capture him as he closes the door. The

figure will then walk back towards the phone; the camera will
TILT down and ZOOM IN on the phone, creating a close up shot.
The humanoid figure will pick up the phone, and the camera
goes back to TRACKING his movements with a MID-SHOT, as he
proceeds to hand over the phone to JAMES.
JAMES
(nervously)
Thanks, dad.

The SOUND during this scene is kept to a minimum. Only

diegetic sound, although amplified, will be heard.
A POV shot from the eyes of JAMES shows the figure walking out
the door he entered from. This is a LONG SHOT of the figure.
An OVER THE SHOULDER shot shows JAMES lying on the side in his
bed browsing Facebook. An ominous soundtrack starts, with a
crescendo, which culminates when he receives a phone call from
an unknown number. At that point his ringtone (the classic
Marimba) is heard.
During the phone call, a CLOSE-UP of JAMES face is shown.
DAD
(hastily)
Hey, Jamie!

JAMES
O hi there!

DAD
Sorry bud, but I will need
to stay overtime at work.
Dont wait for me awake!

At this point JAMES expression is terrified. He then drops the

phone on the ground, which lands with the screen up, revealing
that the caller was his DAD (SLOW MOTION). The sound of the
phones impact with the ground is amplified to huge extent. We
can also hear the sound of heartbeat, which becomes
progressively louder.

The camera is now showing the wardrobe, with a LONG-SHOT from

JAMES POV, which has the locked doors being forced open. The
rhythm of the impacts against the doors is equal to the one of
JAMES heartbeats. As the heartbeats get louder, the impacts
get stronger.
The Wardrobe Doors then open, revealing a DEMON, which then
lashes towards the camera. The sound of an agonizing scream is
heard.
