9 Key Frames: 666

These are nine key frames which I took from my production. I got my actors and I told them to act out
each scene one by one while I got the perfect picture. Out of 27 images I found 9 images which best
suited the chronological sequence for my film, 666.

Key Frame 1

The scene starts off with a wide shot, in a car and it

shows the protagonist Jamie sitting in the drivers seat
alone while he is waiting for his friend, who is the antagonist, Cameron. His friend is
facial expression shows that he is bored. And he sits there looking out the window
while waiting. Then a POV shot shows Cameron leaving his house and coming
towards the car and we get the POV shot from Jamies perspective. Cameron, the
antagonist enters the car with a straight face and does not look well. Diegetic Dialogue
is used where Jamie asks
Cameron Are you ok?
then Cameron replies Im
fine, I need to get
something from the house.
While he is delivering
the dialogue there is a diegetic sound which shows everyone that his voice sounds
more like a growl rather than a normal human voice. The facial expression of Cameron
doesnt Change all throughout the scene which infers that something strange is going
on. Then the facial expression of Jamie changes as he realises his friend is acting

strange. The shot doesnt show any character holding the most power as it is angled
normally. The protagonist is wearing a black hoodie as
this is casual wear and this also connotes his youth, as
more mature older men would not usually where these
types of hoodies as the hoodie looks like its for young
people. The antagonist is also wearing an unzipped
hoodie with a black polo shirt underneath as this
represents him as youthful. There is no non-diegetic
score music in the scene so that the there is tension
between the characters and we can also understand that things are not normal as a
tense mood has been set by not having any type of score music in the scene.
Key Frame 2
A two shot shows the antagonist leaving the car which
then turns into a wide shot as the antagonist moves out
of the shot. Non-diegetic score music begins, which is
tense and eerie, as the protagonist, Jamie is watching
his friend go back into his house and his facial
expression shows us that he is now feeling a bit anxious
and nervous due to his friend acting strange. Diegetic
dialogue is used as he sighs. A close up from a side
angle shows Jamie reaching out for his phone. Mis en
scene in the form of a prop as a phone is used so that
we can infer that he is bored and getting impatient with his friend. A close-up of Jamies
face shows that he is getting even more impatient as he lets off a louder sigh. We then
see from a point of view shot that Jamie texts Cameron to hurry up. Then he switches
to a game as he is getting really bored.
Key Frame 3

An over the shoulder shot shows Jamie texting Cameron What is wrong with you?!
Then he sighs again which emphasises how frustrated
he is starting to get with his friend. Non-diegetic sinister
score music starts to begin. Also the absence of
Cameron makes the scene more and tenser and it
leaves the audience in suspense due to Cameron being
gone so long. A close-up of Jamie represents how
impatient he is getting and also the use of a diegetic
sigh shows us how frustrated he is getting. We then get
a canted angle POV shot to show Jamie leaning out his
window looking at Camerons house which tells us that he is annoyed with his friend.
Then a wide shot shows us Jamie calling Cameron. Cameron doesnt answer which
leaves the audience feeling nervous and this connotes that something bad has
happened. The lighting which was used in this scene is low key lighting as the mood is
dark and sinister and if we used bright lighting then the scene wont be as tense as it is
now and the atmosphere of the film wouldve changed. I started using a high angle
with the shots after Cameron left the car to show Jamie as being inferior.
Key Frame 4
Then suddenly there is a diegetic loud bang which
scares Jamie. He thinks nothing of it and looks back at
his phone, ignoring the sound. Then he hears the same
sound and straight after he hears the diegetic sound of
something calling his name in a whisper. This starts to
scare him and he looks out of his window. We see this
scene from a close up which is in a neutral angle
showing Jamie from the
side. An over the
shoulder shot shows Jamie
call Cameron again
which gets answered. The use of diegetic dialogue is used where Jamie hears a voice
on the phone which says Camerons not hear anymore. Then the phone call ends
leaving Jamie really frightened. Then the bang begins again and non-diegetic tense
music gets louder and more suspenseful.
Key Frame 5
In a panic Jamie rushes out the car and a point of view
shot shows Jamie look left and right. Then I used diegetic dialogue once again to have
someone whisper Jamies name. Jamie starts to really panic and a close-up of Jamies
feet is shown as he walks past the camera and as he walks out of shot, another
character follows him which is shown by a close up of his feet walking. Jamie facial
expression changes drastically as he starts getting really scared. The non-diegetic
music starts getting even louder and keeps the tense mood in the scene. Jamie runs
towards Camerons house
and calls out for him.
The location is dark and the
only lighting in the
scene is street lights to show
that it is really late. This

makes the scene even scarier as if it was filmed in the

daytime there would be less tension in the scene and
there would be less verisimilitude.
Key Frame 6
Jamie stops still and this
is shown by a close-up.
Then behind him we see
angry and from his face
intentions. He
the back of head
en-scene we can see

his friend Cameron looking

we can see that he has bad
approaches and hits him on
knocking him out. Using misthat Cameron has become
even more sinister than he
was represented in the beginning of the scene. Camerons
hood is up and his hoodie is zipped up as this makes him hidden as possible. Also by
looking at his facial expression we can see his is not the person that Jamie knew. After
Cameron attacks Jamie the non-diegetic music cuts off and the scene goes black.
Key Frame 7

The scene fades in and it opens with Cameron looking

really evil and possessed. This is shown by a close-up
so we can see Camerons facial expressions clearly.
His hair looks messy and he starts chanting in a
demonic voice. Non-diegetic music plays throughout the
scene and the score music which is used is monotone
sound which keeps the scene suspenseful. Then a shot
reverse shot is used to show Jamie who is tied up and
blindfolded, back to Cameron who is shown by a low
angle which makes him look superior. Jamie is shown
by a high angle as this makes him look inferior and weak. Cameron looks powerful in
the scene as he is shown by a low angle from the point of view of Jamie. Both of the
characters are shown by a close-up so that we can see the facial expression of the
characters clearly. Then Jamie slowly wakes up and groans. He says Whats going
on? Where am I?! Then a shot reverse shot is used to show Cameron and diegetic
dialogue is used when he says in a demonic voice Youre in the house of hell. Then
the camera cuts back to Jamie and he starts to struggle and screams let me go right
now, what are you doing!?

Key Frame 8
Jamie looks like he is in a lot of pain and his hoodie
looks scruffier as he was kidnapped by Cameron after
getting knocked out. Diegetic dialogue is used as Jamie
screams out Help! Someone help! during the dialogue
we can still hear the diegetic chanting off Cameron
which is being said in a demonic voice. Jamie exclaims
Let me go!

Key Frame 9
The camera then cuts back to Camerons face as he
finishes chanting and he says we need you for
sacrifice. Then a diegetic growling begins and
Camerons facial expression looks even more sinister
and his hair looks even messier. Then he starts to smile
which shows that he has been possessed and is not
Cameron anymore. We dont see Jamie anymore in the
scene and we Camerons hair starts waving about as
there is a gust of wind
and the diegetic growl gets
louder and then we
begin to hear Jamie starts to
scream. Then the scene
fades to black and then we hear a scream being let of Jamie as he is getting killed by
Cameron.
