FILM FESTIVAL
Why would I want to enter this film festival?
For this project, it would be a good idea to push for a reward winning film. After doing some research I
would like to enter the INDIE FILMAKERS SHOWCASE, based in London, which is only a train ride to
attend, but with all the factors of this film festival I would like to enter, the reason I would like to enter
is because it would be great to have on my CV and, it’s a good way for getting my name out to the
industry

Why this film festival

This festival is very student friendly, they except mainly low budget shot films, they mainly focus on
the strength of the narrative, which is something I am putting a lot of time in. So, this is the festival I
am focused on entering in

Figure 1

Deadline
The dead next deadline to enter this film festival is set on the 1st of August, which is great as it is after
we finish up everything for this project so the film would be 100% finished if it all goes to plan.

Rules and regulations

So, to enter this film festival, there are some rules that you legally must stick by as it is a
professionally runed event, such as, you film can’t be more than 140 minutes long which is in my time.
You must upload a trailer and the finished film to be presented, I will make a trailer to fit my film. You
also are not allowed to enter with copyrighted music endless you need to gain the rights or sign
paperwork about the music or footage you are using. You can not enter a film that isn’t in English
without It being dubbed or subtitled, which is fits my film as I wont be having any foreign language in
my film, the only use of language ill be using is English so I will not be needing to use subtitled or the
film being dubbed

ROAD TO FMP 2
BREIF SO FAR.

Flickering throw channels watching 80s TV flicking past programs films adverts to then a news station, very British style,
he’s holding the paper upside down and reading out obviously fake news, he then talks about Jeremy who is international
star and runs a sitcom and how he’s come out of Rehab to carry on the next season of his show, it then goes into the
interview of Jeremy and everything seems normal Jeremy seems to be on top and looked upon as a star, the interview is
in his house, brags about his career, talks about his materials and also mentions his pool which is behind him. the interviewer
mentions a bit about his ex-girlfriend/wife and Jeremy quickly brushes her off and doesn’t want to talk about her. He talks
about how he wants to win the Oscars mainly but is interrupted by the interviewer, by saying he’s ran out of time. The
channel flicks again being the start of his sitcom “the new season of the Jeremy show”. All the characters have a walk in
and looks like how your bog standard sitcom would start. Introducing 3 new characters. After the intro it already seems a
bit weird, the only noise that can be heard is the clock ticking and has still shots of kitchen essentials you have, left around
post cards, toast holder, a shot of a knife and knife holder, the picture of the family sitcom, and then the three new characters
sitting in silence around a table. The silence is then interrupted by the doorbell, all the characters seem to get excited “it
must be Jeremy” and then introduced to the main character Jeremy. Jeremy comes in all excited and everyone seems to
be excited to see Jeremy, they have badly written jokes with added in canned laughter and everything seems like it’s back
to a normal sitcom. “So where have you been this whole time, Jeremy? I hope not wasting your time on an Oscar” canned
laughter* Jeremy talks about where he’s been but talks in such disturbing detail about his addiction to drugs and depression
and how no one sees him as a real person anymore to the point he can’t tell what’s real to him or what’s real to others to
then lead on a long pause… “oh Jeremy” *canned laughter you can start to see the look on Jeremys face start to change.
“cut” everything is back to reality and you can see how much this character of a hard shell we idolize has finally cracked
Jeremy has no respect from anyone. He slowly looks deeply into the camera lance and dreams of winning the Oscar. To
then be woken up in the same sitcom he’s still in. after the cut everything starts off normally again but now in a different
location in a living room. then all the characters laughing at Jeremy for battling mental depression alcoholism and say he’s
a Hollywood star has nothing to be sad about Jeremy starts to feel humiliated with everyone still laughing at him “I don’t
think it’s very funny” they make fun of him as he won’t have a chance of being the person he wants to be and won’t have a
chance in winning the reward. Then the characters start to mention his ex-girlfriend Jeremy start to get very angry and
starts to break out of his character. They mention how she died of an overdose with him Jeremy is started to unravel his
true colors, Jeremy starts to panic begging if anyone can hear him to try make everyone stop laughing, but the laughing
just gets more intense and even the characters start to laugh. Jeremy starts banging on the door to try get out, but he
seems to be trapped, he grabs the camera and starts to yell for them to stop laughing. One of the characters calms him
down and tells him that they think it’s time, “I think it’s time he says to another one of the characters. The audience begin
to clap and cheer. The character runs out of frame and comes back in holding a suspicious looking brief case and puts in
front of Jeremy. A long sequence of Jeremy opening the brief case and a drum roll begins. Jeremy brings out a needle with
liquid inside the drum roll ends, the character help to tie a rope around his arm and helps him inject the needle. He goes
into a dream sequence where he is now outside the sitcom and now in a cold looking field, in the distance is a burning
upside-down cross, table and chair with a devil looking figure sitting in the chair. Jeremy gets up and walks over to the devil
and on the table is a paper reading “your soul for your fortune” Jeremy signature is already written on the paper; he signs
the paper again and says, “will this make me win the Oscars?” the devil smiles and Jeremy wakes up into a counseling
circle alone he can hear voices in his head that you would hear from a counseling circle Jeremy repeats his dreams off
winning the Oscars and talks about his ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile Jeremy sees himself in the other chairs doing commercials,
game shows, interviews and being back in the sitcom he’s starting to lose more control of his surroundings as everything
behind him is a green screen and not real. On the other chair he sees his ex-girlfriend on the chair “Courtney?” “Jeremy?
Why didn’t you save me you left me to die” Jeremy looks lost and doesn’t know what to say, “I’m sorry” Country smiles and
foams out the mouth and begins to twitch, Jeremy gets up and begins CPR, begging her to wake up it gets back into the
sitcom. “Wake up, Jeremy, are you ok?” “No, I need help I can’t tell what’s real or not and if I win this Oscar maybe something
real might happen to me and I’ll be ok… I miss her so much and it was all my fault” “none of us feel ok” “oh Jeremy” audience
burst into laughter

ROAD TO FMP 3
TARGET AUIDENCE
For this production I think its almost clear on who I would like to sell this too, I would like to make a
production for my target audience all the way too early 20s. the reason is, is that it’s a message to
the new generation on how we treat celebrities, as I would like to talk about the how are generation
has made it socially acceptable to treat celebrities with lack of conciseness and respect.

Another reason on why I am hitting this target audience is because, the main character I am
choosing wisely with casting is because, I need to make a character that my age gap would
somewhat idolize, this is important as its one of the main character traits of being famous, and how
he presents himself of famous worthy to others.

Casting is important for my target audience as if I don’t

find the right cast my targtet audience wont be appeald
