Season 8 of That 70s show sucked!

Gauri Jayaraman
That 70’s show is one of my favorite sitcoms I love everything about but as a die hard fan
may I just say that the final season of the show absolutely sucked by far one of the worst
seasons of a show I have ever seen. If you are unfamiliar with the show that 70’s shows it
basically centers around a group of six friends living in point place wisconsin. So like I said
That 70s show is one of my favorite shows and I am pretty sure that you can ask any
diehard fan that the last season of this show sucked. Today I am going to be going over
the reasons why.

So one of the main reasons that That 70s show season 8 failed is because the main
character Eric Forman left the show because the actor Topher Grace left because he
wanted to pursue new projects. Honestly this is not only That 70s shows fault so many
times a show tries to go on without its main character and for people who want to make
shows never try and do a show without your main character because it just never works
and it always goes downhill. So like I was saying Eric was the main character of that 70s
show and even though the show was about the group. Let's be honest Eric was the glue
that was holding that show together. He was carrying that group on his back. It was his
house and his basement. It doesn't make sense why these bunch of people are hanging at
his house without him. So basically to people who didn’t watch the last season. Honestly I
don’t blame you, basically the character Eric left because he took a teaching job in Africa.
Now my problem with this wasn’t his departure, it was the way they handled the
relationship with his characters, especially Donna. So if you are not familiar with Eric and
Donna's story, basically they were dating all of the 7th season and in the 8th season they
decided to break them up off screen. Now my problem with this wasn’t the fact that they
broke up, it was the way they did it. Like the Eric Forman that I know he would never just
break up with Donna over a phone call. Kelso also left in this season and that was also
another reason why it failed because they basically lost their main character and the
funniest character of the show. It also really changed the dynamics of the show. Another
main reason why it failed was because the screenwriters left and this is another reason
why a lot of shows fail when a character that fans love or the writers leave you already
know it's gonna be a bad season. Another reason why that 70s show failed was because
they decided to break up the best pairing on the show Jackie and Hyde. So basically what
happened was that Jackie wanted to get married Hyde was unsure so they broke them up
in the 8th season and basically forgot about all of the development that Jackie and Hyde
had and took them back to their whole enemies plot. Now listen I am all for Enemies to
Lovers but there needs to be some payoff. To make these two characters completely
forget about their relationship and to pair her up with Fez, someone she has absolutely no
chemistry with just makes no sense. Hyde went off to marry this girl named Samantha. I
honestly believe the plot would have been so much better had Jackie and Hyde reconciled
or if Hyde and Samantha's marriage was actually likable (which I highly doubt). The
characters were just so badly written it was hard to watch. But now we have come to the
absolute main reason that That 70s show 8th season was horrible and that is RANDY
PEARSON. Any that 70s show fan knows that Randy pearson is the worst character to
ever appear on the show but possibly in all of television. Randy was clearly supposed to be a
mix of Kelso charm and Eric's sweetness. But instead he was just annoying and absolutely
sucked. Another reason was FEZ. Fez was defined by his obsession with Candy, his
awkwardness, and his mysterious origin story. In the last most of these traits were just
forgotten and they made him this womanizer when that is not his character. He also got
Jackie to fall in love with him when there were so many times in the show where Jackie
even told Fez that she wasn’t interested in him and then one day she just decided that she
was in love with him and then when she tells him that she likes him he rejects her like what
the girl who you had a crush on for years wants to be with you and you’re just like nope.
Firstly Jackie and Fez have zero on screen chemistry and Jackie and Hyde were just
better. It was the most random thing the show could have done. Overall that 70s show
ended very badly to say the least with losing a lot of the concepts and characters that
made it good in the first place. The only hope in saving this season is the spinoff that 90s
show which will hopefully be better than the misery that is season 8.
