4) Update Required Software

In this section, you will update the software needed to use the Ingenico PIN Pads.

1. Ensure you are running CATAPULT TS version 5.5.3 or later.

2. Enable Quick Chip functionality via CATAPULT WebOffice® (requires a single advanced
setting; details are provided at Quick Chip on PIN Pads).

3. JPOS file:  Ensure you have an appropriate jPOS file (a mandatory file that enables card
processing at the PIN Pad)
a. Review the CATAPULT TS revision of the POS terminal

b. If the POS terminal was initially installed with CATAPULT TS 5.5.2 or later, no change to
the jpos file is needed.

c. If the POS terminal is newly upgraded from CATAPULT versions below 5.5.2, you must
update the jpos file as directed below.
i. Locate the file to be edited – C:\Program Files (x86)\ECRS\CatapultPos\jpos.xml

ii. Using Windows Notepad or other line editor, create a working file that will
ultimately be saved as the new (replacement) jpos file. For purposes of reference
within these directions, the working file name will be named workingfile.txt, but
you may use another filename of your preference.

iii. Open the following text file: Ingenicojpos.txt

iv. Copy / Paste the contents from Ingenicojpos.txt into workingfile.txt.

v. Save workingfile.txt but leave the file open,

vi. In another window, still using Windows Notepad or other line editor, open
C:\Program Files (x86)\ECRS\CatapultPos\jpos.xml

vii. Copy and paste the contents of workingfile.txt to the bottom of jpos.xml.

viii. Save the edited jpos file, still C:\Program Files (x86)\ECRS\CatapultPos\jpos.xml

ix. When you are satisfied that the jpos file is appropriately edited, you may close the
line editor windows.

4. Install the updated device driver (USB Driver 3.22 or later).

CATAPULT® TS software. Select Upgrade to update the installed firmware on
your Ingenico device for the most reliable service. This process may take as
long as 35 minutes.

iv. Blue indicates that the installed firmware is a later release than anticipated by
CATAPULT TS. This situation is most likely to occur if a new Ingenico is
installed on a system with an outdated version of CATAPULT TS. In this
situation, updating TS will provide the most reliable operation.

card transactions (for small dollar amounts), and instead have a flat-rate fee for Credit
card transactions. The following procedure may be followed to activate PIN Disabled.
i. Select PIN Disabled in the Device Management Utility.

ii. Add the following Advanced Setting (details offered in Advanced Settings).
Key: com.ecrsoft.tserver.touchpad.PINDisabled
Value: true

iii. Remove the Debit tender from the terminal (Web Office > Setup > Point of Sale >
Terminals, details are provided in Environment Section in a Terminal Record)

Notes:
 Exceptions to PIN Disabled

PIN Disabled is only available for Lane 3000 devices; the feature is not
available for Lane 2500, 7000, or 8000 devices.

PIN Disabled will not apply to contactless debit cards; contactless

debit cards require PIN entry.

Debit-only Tenders that are not permitted by the issuer to be

processed as credit cards (these are typically non-Visa, non-
MasterCard accounts issued by small banks) will not be accepted.

f. (Optional) To enable On-Guard™ (Point-to-Point encryption – details available in

Ingenico documentation), select the On-Guard radio option (located to the right of the
Load Forms button).

Important: On-Guard Prerequisites

On-Guard is available for enabling on Lane 7000 and 8000 devices.

https://olm.ecrs.com/hardware/?page_id=3079 18/23
6/23/22, 11:20 AM HOW TO: Install the Ingenico Lane® 3000 / 7000 / 8000 PIN Pad

On-Guard is not available on Lane 2500 and 3000 devices.

On-Guard activation requires CATAPULT® and TS versions 5.5.4.550 or

later.

NOTE: On-Guard firmware is PCI validated and once a device is installed

with On-Guard enabled firmware it cannot be reverted. Ensure that this is
your preferred option prior to installing the device with On-Guard enabled.

g. Select Load Forms

h. Disconnect from the PIN Pad and close Touchpad Utility

Important

Leaving the Touchpad Utility open and connected to the Ingenico Link/2500
Series device while also having CATAPULT Transaction Server open will leave
the payment terminal inoperable in Transaction Server until:

The device is disconnected

The Touchpad Utility is closed

Transaction Server has been restarted

6) Load Payment Device Images

Important

Loading the payment device images is accomplished through Store Records in

CATAPULT WebOffice®. Therefore, ensure the Edit Store Record checkpoint is
enabled in your designated Authorization Security profile before continuing.
