This scene has non-diegetic

sounds, such as the song Skyfall
by Adele. This is the only sound in
this shot. This song represents the
movie.
In this shot, it shows that James
Bond is being dragged down in the
water by a hand. This can be
interpreted to have many
meanings, which the movie itself
will give away. This is effective
because it grabs peoples attention

In this shot, Eon Productions is

shown on the screen to tell the
audience that the film is about to
start. Because the text is in white
font, it stands out from the dark
background. The background is dull
and quite depressing which suggests
there are many hidden meanings
from this shot.

The first picture implies that he is the

main character. This is because he is the
first character to be shown and has a big
entrance. His entrance is shown for a long
time, this gives the audience time to work
out information from the previous shot.
All in one shot
From when
Bond walks
into the room
and discovers
the dead
bodies, the
next sequence
from here to
when he finds
Agent Ronson
dying, is all in
one shot. This
is called a
tracking shot.
Because so
much has
happened in

Bond finds the first

agent dead on the
floor.

Another agent on
the floor dead.

Finds Agent
Ronson dying in
the arm chair from
gun wounds.

This is an over the

shoulder shot/high angle
shot. This is effective
because you get to see
things from his
prospective.
This is called a tracking shot. This
shows his every movement so
the audience is fully aware on
what he is setting out to do and
where he is going.
In this scene, there is a mixture of
diegetic and non-diegetic sounds.
There are loads of gun shots which
are non-diegetic because these
noises were not there when it was
being filmed. Also, there is
screaming from the people who
witnessed the chase because of the
gun shots. This sound is diegetic.
Eventually, the guy manages to get
away on a bike and the screams fade

This close up shows emotion and

body language between the 2
characters which implies they have
a good connection. Most people
would be distressed in a car chase
situation, however Eve and Bond
are calm and its almost as if they
enjoy it. They are good at their job
M is in the head chair which shows she and they know what they need to
do.
is superior and in charge. This is a
landscape shot which shows the whole
setting. From seeing the whole setting,
I can see that they are in control and
having no problems with the situation
because no one is distressed or
Bond and Eve are in a car chase
rushing around.
and are being directed by the head
of MI6. M is facing away from the
camera and so suspense is built to
whether or not it is her. You can
then establish that it is her as it
transitions to a close up of her
face.

Mise-enLightingThe opening scene starts off with

sceneJames Bond, played by Daniel Craig,

This is an example of incongruity

as Bond is wearing a sharp suit in
a scene of complete destruction.
James Bond is wearing a smart
suit, this shows that he is calm
and hasnt been through a
struggle.

walking from room to room to find

Agent Ronson dying. The room is dark
and the sun rays are shining through
on Agent Ronson to show he is the
main focus of this scene.

Make upTo show that he is dying, his chest is

covered in blood. From this, the
audience can tell that he has been
shot.
CostumeBoth agents are wearing smart suits.
However, the man sitting down looks
scruffy (top button is undone, blood
stains and tie is loose). This shows that

His facial expression shows that there

is a struggle. Therefore, he is taking
control. From Eves facial expression,
you can imply that she is okay with
that and is with Bonds decision. A
close up is used so you can get this
information. This tells the audience
that these 2 characters have a close
relationship.

This shows all the damage that has

been left after the car chase. The
fact that nobody is making a fuss
about the mess, shows that this is
somehow a regular occurrence. This
is a long shot and shows the
aftermath of the event.

The Land Rover is smashing into

the Audi. This shows that it is
expensive an expensive movie
and in general, the more money
that goes into the movie, the
better it will be.
