External Casing Packer (ECP)

Description Applications
External Casing Packers (ECPs) are Inflatable • Support Primary Cement
Packers designed to be run as an integral • Isolate Lower Zones during Multi-Stage
component in the casing string or liner. Once Cementing
inflated they provide permanent impermeable • Isolate Lost-Circulation Zones during Cementing
annular barriers between casing strings or • Segregate Production Zones
between casing and openhole. ECPs seal in • Isolate Lost-Circulation, Gas, or Water Zones
vertical, deviated, and irregular wellbores. • Plug and Abandonment

Every ECP features a fully continuous mandrel Design Features

that forms part of the casing or liner, and serves • Constructed on a continuous joint of casing
as the main support for the ECP Valve and • Special Clearance models for restrictive wellbores
Inflatable Packer Element components. • Inflatable Packer Element seal lengths available in
4ft, 10ft, or 20ft
ECPs are inflated by pressurizing the entire • Rated for up to 300°F (150°C) applications
casing, or by straddling the inflation port.
Customer Benefits
• No hidden internal connections
• No welding to the ECP mandrel
• Redundant Inflation Valve Seals
• Opening Valve provides delayed setting

Differential Pressure Chart

Use the chart by identifying the relevant curve for the ECP Casing Size being used. Draw a vertical line from
the relevant setting Hole Size Axis (X-Axis) until it intersects with the relevant ECP Casing Size curve. Draw a
horizontal line from the intersection point to the Pressure Axis (Y-Axis); this pressure value defines the
Differential Pressure Capability of the ECP.
