Dear Sirs,
Re : Termination of commercial activities for non-goverment transaction
In the past we occasionally informed our correspondents that, being the Central Bank, we have
the intention to gradually decrease and to ultimately terminate our commercial activities.
It has been decided by the Board of Managing Directors of Bank Negara Indonesia Unit I (Now
BANK INDONESIA) that as of December 1, 2020 out Bank will no longer handle commercial
transactions of enterprises and/our individuals in relation to their import and/or export business including
inward and outward remittances. Our activities will be restricted to transactions for and on behalf of our
Central/Regional Government only.
In view of the above we kindly request you to trace for which if your cliends you have been
rounting non-government commercial transactions through our bank so as to prapare them of our decision
of relieving ourselves in the immedial future from commercial banking activities. Your clients should also
be advised in transfer their future transactions through other commercial banking institutions in
Indonesia. In this connection we would like to recommed the foreign exchange transactions can be routed
and which, we are sure, will be glad to place then services at your disposal. A list of their names and
addresses is enclosed here with.
We further wish to assure you that all transactions received by us up to December 1, 2020 which
are still outstanding will be handled until its finalization and that after said date no new transaction will be
accepted. Clients who might wish to transfer their business and/or private transactions to other
commercial banking institutions in Indonesia before December 1, 2020 are of cource at liberty to do so.
Any account that we might maintain with be preserved to accommodate government transactions
only.
