USING BOWEL

NOSODES CLINICALLY

The problem of Chronic disease:
Edward Bach
• …that this group of organisms ..are persistent in patients;
that they are associated with chronic disease, and that by
the use of preparations made from these bacteria
themselves we have a most powerful weapon in the fight
against chronic diseases of all types.
Characteristics of these bacteria
• Their immediate virulence is small. Person with good
health can face their toxins for years without apparent
inconvenience.
• They are not pathogenic like dysentery, or typhoid bacilli.
• They belong to the class of dysentery and typhoid and are
closely allied but not identical.
• They are non-lactose fermenting bacilli.
Bowels nosodes
• Bach’s bacterias only represent 0.1% of gut population.
Names of Bach’s groups:
1. Faecalis alkiligenes
2. Dysentery type
3. Morgan type
4. Gaertner type
5. Proteus type
6. Coli mutabile
7. no.7 type
E. Paterson’s list of b nosodes and
concordances
• Morgan gaertner Lyco
• Sycotic co. Puls, Tuber, Silica
• Dysentry co. Ars. alb, Arg. nit, Psorinum
• Proteus Nat mur, Sepia
• Morgan pure Sulphur
• No. 7 (Bacillus 7) Kali carb, Rhus tox
• No X Thuja, Nat sulph
• Gaertner Silica, Phos, Tuber
Indications for bowel nosodes
• No convincing response to the apparently indicated
remedy
• Concordance of bowel nosode with the apparently
indicated remedy
• Symptoms of the case consistent with described clinical
symptomatology of the bowel nosode
• Symptoms remaining in the case suggestive of bowel
dysbiosis
How concordances were developed
between conventional remedy and a
b nosode

• E.G. When Lycopodium was the simillimum and was

given, after 2 weeks during curative response non-lactose
fermenting bacilli were shed. These non lactose
fermenting bacilli that were excreted were then isolated
and identified. The b nosodes prepared from these strains
followed that remedy most appropriately. And were called
concordant bowel nosodes to Lyco.

Further explanation of concordances
• Morgan gaertner, Sycotic co. and Morgan Pure are
concordant with Lycopodium: This means after giving
Lyco. 64% dumped Morgan g, 12% dumped Morgan p,
and 24% dumped Sycotic co.
• This meant Morgan g has a stronger concordance with
Lyco. than the other two.

Positive and negative phase of shedding
the non-lactose fermenting bacteria
• A person goes through phases of shedding the bacteria
and not shedding the bacteria.
• The person feels best when they are shedding lots of
bacteria called positive phase or healing phase. This time
is marked by feeling good.
• Person does not feel good when they are not shedding
the bacteria (negative phase).
Healing phase or curative response
• After giving a similimum (bowel nosode or conventional),
the non lactose forming bacilli were shed after 10-14 days
and can be shed in stools for a months
• Person tends to feel better at the time they are shedding
non-lactose fermenting bacilli
• Rule of thumb is to not repeat any remedy (conventional
or b nosode) when non lactose fermenting bacilli are
being shed.
When not to repeat a b nosode
• General rule of thumb : don’t repeat while non--‐lactose
fermenting bacteria are prominent in the faeces.
• Do not give remedy when person is improving or during
the period of rapid amelioration
• John p: Do not repeat for 3 months after giving a bowel
nosode because one may be shedding for 3 months.
• In a chronic cases, no symptoms then no for b nosode.
• If > stops, then repeat the remedy
The seven types of stool are:
Type 1: Separate hard lumps, like nuts (hard to pass)
Type 2: Sausage-shaped, but lumpy
Type 3: Like a sausage but with cracks on its surface
Type 4: Like a sausage or snake, smooth and soft
Type 5: Soft blobs with clear cut edges (passed easily)
Type 6: Fluffy pieces with ragged edges, a mushy stool
Type 7: Watery, no solid pieces. Entirely liquid

Types 1–2 indicate constipation,

with 3 and 4 being the ideal stools (especially the latter), as they are
easy to defecate while not containing any excess liquid,
and 5, 6 and 7 tending towards diarrhoea.
A.K. Case of Argon, August 5, 2014
• We are at the 1 month point after having given her Argon
30c: liquid remedy twice a week by 5 cup method.
• She is successfully off her Triphala and also off her
digestive enzymes - without any significant constipation or
bloating of the belly.
• She is however pretty low on energy - I would say her
energy level is down to about 60% of her good energy
state.
• Also, she has been getting more irritable - a bit defiant
and rude, and crying easily, gets upset more easily.
• Rx No change at this point. Wait until follow up before
making any changes.
A.K. August 6, 2014
• Response to Argon 30c: liquid, twice a week, 5 c m
• close to finishing one month of the liquid remedy.
constipation has not been an issue. she has been doing
well and I have been able to stop the trifula and her
digestive enzymes, but she woke up with pink eye today.
stop the remedy?
• we may need to do either acute or it will go away by itself
or with help of Similasan pink eye drops
• Rx Continue dosage at least for couple days and then
check in with me
A.K. 11/3/2014 follow up:

WARM WATER TO CLEAR IT. REST OF THE DAY SHE
IS FINE. VERY QUICK RESPONSE TO USING EYE
DROPS, WITHIN 24 HOURS OF USING eye drops she is
fine.

• WHEN EATING HEALTHY, BROWN, FIRM
CONSISTENCY GOOD VOLUME STOOL
• When travelling, not eating vegetables, constipated
easier, lumpy, darker, dark brown or blackish. Strains.
Very small quantities of broken bowel movements.

• Rx Morgan co. (Bach) 200C : One pellet in 4 oz of water,

one teaspoon once only.
Analysis
Morgan co. (Bach)
• Skin. It is here that the outstanding action of the Bacillus Morgan group of
organisms is to be found. Morgan (Bach) is the nosode indicated where there is
congestion of the skin with itching eruption, worse from heat. The type of eruption
which characterizes this can be ascertained from a study of the "provings" of well
known skin remedies found among the list of remedies associated with the
Bacillus Morgan, e. g. Sulphur, Graphites, Petroleum and Psorinum. There are few
eczemas of the infant at the teething stage or later life, which do not require a dose of
this nosode Morgan (Bach). It was found possible to isolate two sub-types of Bacillus
Morgan and to observe the clinical indications for the use of the respective nosodes.

• 1. MORGAN-PURE (Paterson) is indicated where there is a marked symptom of

skin eruption or disturbance of the liver ;
• bilious headache, or actual presence of gallstones.

• 2. MORGAN-GAERTNER (Paterson) is also indicated in skin and liver conditions, but

it is likely to be more useful where there is evidence of acute inflammatory attack, such
as that found in Cholecystitis.
• ... For its prototype, Morgan-Pure (Paterson) has Sulphur and within the main group
represented by Morgan (Bach) you will find the well known trio of remedies
mentioned by Kent as working in a cycle of Sulphur, Calcarea Carbonica
and Lycopodium.

• John Paterson
• The Bowel Nosodes (1950)
Follow up April 22, 2015
• Right away +++. energy++, no naps needed for 9 days.
Before she needed naps every day.
• bowels are normal, every day, no tummy rubs necessary,
• immune system, mom got something, ak did not
• social interactions: little different from other kids but
nothing in pathological range anymore.
Follow up Sept. 4, 2015
• Stopped all supplements.
• Mom gives 8 ½ -9 on scale of 10 where 10=best it gets
• Happy ending to all imaginary plays: In pictures she
draws 2 friends going to park instead of mom and baby. or
5 friends going to park. more age appropriate play
• Age appropriate social interactions
• Dreams: funny, with baby sitter
• She is thinking of what other kids do
January 30, 2016
• Best winter for A.K so far. No acutes until today. Progress
continues. No bowel issues.
• 2 days ago got a cough. Incessant. Nausea. Rx Ipecac
30C plussing every 2-4 hours as needed.
• Feb 1, 2016:She got better right away
M. M of Morgan co. (Bach)
Or B. Morgan

• There are few eczemas of the infant at the teething stage

or later life, which do not require a dose of this nosode
Morgan (Bach).

The Bowel Nosodes (1950)
Infantile eczemas and Morgan co (Bach)
• This nosode has outstanding action on skin. Almost all
infantile eczemas may Need this remedy.

Nosodes (1973)
• Reprinted in The Elements of Homeopathy (R.

Prescribing on results of concordance
with conventional remedy
• When apparently well indicated remedy(Argon) fails to act
or acts only partially
• When apparently best indicated remedy remains an
unconvincing match. Every symptom is Lyco. Like, it is
one sided, but likes cold rather than warm
• Unusual sensitivity to an apparently well indicated remedy
(Baryta case, then Lyco, sensitivity and continued bowel
dysbiosis led to giving Morgan gaertner.)
Dose and potency of bowel nosodes
• 6C, 12C, 18C, 30C and 200C
• 18C is most used by Dr. Will Taylor
• If you only got 30C, do with what you have: decrease the
# of pellets, decrease to ½ teaspoon.
• If client is sensitive, do not use higher potency. Stay with
low potency like 12C or 18C.
• Other guidelines same as conventional remedy
guidelines.
