CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION
This study focuses particularly on the Toribio Minor National High School on how they will adapt to the new normal form
of education. All schools will have or has blended of purely on-line courses which they use as a teaching and learning
platform for both students and teachers. Now that many schools and district buildings are closed, state leaders,
educators, and in some cases, business leaders are looking at how best to provide continuity of education and support
services to their students and communities. Adjusting on transitioning from classroom teaching to online instruction is a
challenge even under the best possible circumtances. Right before the “new normal” sank in our minds, we felt mixed
emotions of anxiety, hopelessness and feeling unsure of what is to come. The pandemic came with a crashing domino
effect of the society’s entire system from livelihood, health care, education, transportation, and a lot more! People
started to become flexible in order to survive and continue what they have started modifying things in a any way
possible. While others started to look for ways to innovate in order to help and become more productive.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made everyone stay at home but
it has not stopped the world. People still need to work. Students need to learn and teachers need to teach. This study
focuses on how the Torbio Minor National High School students prepared to adapt the new normal form of education.
When the class resumed on September 9, 2021 we discovered that not all respondents are prepared to adapt the new
normal of education there are so many difficulties like; not all respondents have their own computers or laptop, some of
them need to buy a load to have access to connect in google meet or zoom but they don’t have enough money to buy a
load everyday. But on the other side some of respondents are prepared and excited to this new normal form of
education but not totally prepared because they are also facing a problem about internet connection. We all know that
our country has a poor access on the internet. But no matter what problem are facing the respondents now they need to
be productive and flexible in new normal form of education.

Statement Of the Problem


Online learning or distance learning environment is the new educational setting of the schools in our country due to
rapid cases of the pandemic called “COVID-19”. One of the schools that implement online learning is the Toribio Minor
National High School. This research will aim for knowledge about the preparedness of the students of TMNHS in online
learning. Specifically saying it seeks to find the answers to the following questions:
1. How do the students prepare for the online class?
2. What are the advantages or disadvantages of the online class?
3. Do all students are computer literate?

Hypothesis
The main objective of this study is to measure and have a knowledge tp the preparedness of the Toribio Minor National
High School in having the new setting of education called distance learning/online class due to the crisis that we are
facing right now (covid19). The significance of the study raise an awareness on how the students prepare in this trying
time. To know if they have a gadgets to use or if they have strong access in internet connection.

Significance Of the Study


This study signify on how the students of TMNHS can handle the new normal distance learning in our country. And also
it can visualize if the students has enough access on the internet or how many students has electronic gadgets.

Scope and Delimitations


This study is conducted to know if the students of TMNHS are prepared to handle the new educational setting called
online class or distance learning in our country due to the pandemic and to know the difficulties that may encounter
during the online class.

Definition Of Terms
COVID -19 – the virus associated with the outbreak originating in Wuhan, China. Has been designated severe acute
respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 ( SARS-COV2).
Distance Learning- internet – based learning that delivers content and ables communication between instructor and
students.
Electronic Gadgets- an instruments which can perform many activities at a time with vast speed and makes the hard
work efficient one.
Internet Access- internet access is the process of connecting to the internet using personal computers, laptop or mobile
devices by users or interprises or enables individuals or organizations to avail internet services/web based services.
