Watch the video on YouTube titled "The Next Step in Nanotechnology (George Tulevski)

by TED Talks. Then answer the following questions:

1. Why is nanotechnology likened to creating a statue out of a pile of dust?

It discusses how nanotechnology begins with smaller things and progresses
to larger and more complex things. Nanomaterials are extremely tiny
materials that can be used to create goods and structures that have a
significant impact. It's like constructing a statue except instead of starting
with a piece of wood, you start with a pile of dust, as the speaker put it.

2. What science governs nanostructures? Why is it different?

They are regulated by quantum physics which is a branch of physics. Small
alterations result in a new structure or a twisting of the whole particle.
Because you can alter things at the molecular level, it's like creating a
whole new facet of technology.

3. Why is nanotechnology a difficult science?

Its small size which characterizes its invention is also what makes it
challenging. Nanotechnology deals with materials that are so tiny that
working with them is nearly impossible. Another example of creating a
statue out of a pile of dust. Nanotechnology is also a very slow process
which makes it irritating for those who work on it.

4. What does nature show about building organisms from the bottom up?
Long before humans discovered nanotechnology, Mother Nature used it.
Everything in nature has always been built from the ground up. It
demonstrates how complicated nanostructures may be used by nature to
create something large. Nature demonstrated how nanotechnology can
construct a statue from the ground up using a pile of dust.

5. How can chemistry help in nanotechnology?

Because it works with molecules that are almost the same size as
nanoparticles, chemistry is useful in nanotechnology. We can get the
resources we need by applying chemistry. And with the assistance of
chemistry, these particles may be ordered into patterns and forms to
construct items that will assist to broaden the scope of nanotechnology in
the lives of everyone on the planet. As a result, it supported nanotechnology
in making its promises a reality.
