Astroworld

The 3rd Studio album from Houston Rapper, Travis Scott, has left people all around the

United States with a whole new perspective on where he comes from. The Houston Rapper has

been working on this project for a solid 3 years and has put this project as his most loved. Take

the trip to Astroworld and dive into the mind of Travis Scott

It all started in October 30th of 2005 when the world-renowned amusement park,

“Astroworld” closed. The people of Houston loved the park, and were sad to see it be torn down.

Even till this day, some people can't seem to forget about it. One in particular, Travis Scott. A

rapper who as a kid loved the park. When the park was torn down in 2005, he recalls himself

sitting during the day as a kid being bored without the park. “When Astroworld was torn down, a

part of me was destroyed” Travis had a vision and once getting his career started, he went out to

fulfil it.

When the park was destroyed, the city of Houston put in Rodeos in place of the empty

space, and thats what jump kicked the rappers career. In 2015, Travis Scott released his first

studio album, “Rodeo” which was known to fans as an “Instant Classic”, but to Scott, it was

much more, the start to his vision. Rodeo was a massive hit, from classics like, “Antidote, 3500,

90210, and Pray for Love”, Scott was starting to build an image. In a 2016 concert, Scott

announced his next project, he went on to say, “I will bring back Astroworld, I Travis Scott will

bring back Astroworld!”

From 2016 to 2018, Travis worked on the album. Only took the time it did due to the fact

he had a hard time trying to find the sound that would best fit his home city of Houston. The

sound that would be able to bring people and give them the ride of a lifetime. A sound that would

bring the thrill of an amusement park into an album. As fans got anxious, getting more and more

hungry, Scott went into silent mode. It was being reported that he had assembled a super team to

meet in Hawaii to finish the album. The reports were correct, 2 weeks prior to the album release,

Scott spent day and night working on Astroworld, being away from his girlfriend and brand new

baby girl. As August 30th hit, the day fans have been waiting for finally arrived, Travis

announced Astroworld would be dropping on that friday, August 3rd.

The eve of August 3rd had finally come after what felt like forever, all the waiting, the

expectations, the hype. We finally received Astroworld that midnight. Scott had truly brought

back Astroworld just as promised. The album cover was the start of something special. Fans

knew what they were in for after viewing the album cover. The cover featured Scott’s head with

his mouth wide open in the form of a blow up balloon, to simulate the entrance of an amusement

park. With other attractions such as a rocket ship, or kids playing with candy, or the family

walking into the head; the album cover most definitely showed goods signs for what was to

come.

Diving into the album, Scott delivers what he said, he truly brought back Astroworld,

with this album showing many ways how it is truly a roller coaster of an album. With groups of

songs that resemble rides that you would have found at Astroworld, Scott deliverers an

experience that you can enjoy. The 17 track album took no time to get started. Just like at an

amusement park you get your different types of rides, you have your thrill, high flying rides, you

have your chill rides, throw in some that you can take a girl and its chill a chill one ; and finally

you have your haunted, scary rides. You start the album off with a song titled, “Stargazing”, this

Is one of those rides that starts off slow but then the thrill kicks in, while listening, you think you

are riding a wave of just soothing sounds, but then the beat kicks in and all hell breaks loose.

Your thrill rides consist of the following songs: “Carousel, Sicko Mode, No Bystanders,

Butterfly Effect, WHO? WHAT?”. These songs will give u some serious beat drops, major

emphasis on the drums. Next you get into the chill rides, songs like, “R.I.P. Screw, Stop Tryna

Be God, Astrothunder, Yosemite, Houstonfornication and Coffee Bean” give you the sensation

that you can relax on a nice chill night and take a drive and play those songs. For those rides that

give you chills at night and scar you, songs like,. “5% Tint, and NC-17” are your go to, they start

off with dark melodies and pick up as they go along, just like a ride would. Now those rides that

you could take a girl on and she would enjoy, your best luck would be with, “Skeltons, and Wake

Up”, your girl will love these and most definitely be a fan favorite. The overall response from the

album was extremely positive. The album sold 500k+ copies in its first week.

But to fans, they knew Scott wasn’t even close to being done, the only thing that could

complete this album was a tour. No one could predict what Travis was about to bring to the table.

The double tour was announced and fans were blown away, Travis was about to go on a tour that

has 2 legs and virtually visited every major city in the United States. But that wasn’t all, Scott

had to raise the bar, in each concert, 2 roller coasters were set up. One that would be over crowd

and one that would be in the back in the shape of a loop. With the light show that would come

with and the money that had the face of Travis in the center of it. Scott would deliver the single

most highest grossing tour for a rapper that has ever happen.

2018 would be known to some as the year of Travis Scott, the emergence of Astroworld

and his tour boosted him into a household name. With an appearance at the 2019 Pepsi Super

Bowl Halftime show and the recent documentary titled, “Look Mom I can fly”, the mayor of

Houston told Scott that Houston would be remaking an amusement park, all due to his album.

Travis Scott is known to some as that crazy rager who has fans jump off the stage into the mosh

pits, or the baby daddy to Kylie Jenner's baby, but to his fans and to the city of Houston, he is

known as the man who brought back Astroworld.
