Scaffolded Language Development
CONCEPT REVIEW Review with students the nutrition lessons
taught in the book, such as the menu for a healthy breakfast.
Then have students speak in complete sentences about what
healthy foods they like to eat. Sentence starters are provided
below.
Language Arts
On the Menu Ask students to create a menu for one day.
Encourage them to include healthy foods on their menu. Help
students to include the words breakfast, lunch, and dinner on
their menus.
School-Home Connection
Healthy Challenge Have students discuss with
family members what parts of their breakfasts are healthy and
what parts may be unhealthy. What can people do to improve
their diets?
