II. ASSIGNMENT No. 3

1) Enumerate the Indigenous Cultural Communities that you know in your

respective provinces. Describe their way of living. Are there issues that you
know where they might need assistance?

 Ifugao- they live in small hamlets of 5 to 10 houses seatterect among the

rice terraces. When the ifugao are not farming, they rely on traditional
crafts such as woodworking, carving and weaving as a way to earn a
living which they do during off seasons when they are not in the fields.
These issues, coupled with climate change, ecological disruption, poor
agricultural support and socio- cultural factors have deteriorated the
condition of the rice terraces.
 Gaddang- gadding is an indigenous Filipino people a linguistically
identified ethnic group sharing centuries of residence in the watershed of
the Cagayan River in Northern Luzon, Philippines an of the issues has the
us claim to dispose of a Philippines land- holding, voiding grants made.
 Igorot- any of various ethnic groups in the mountains of northern Luzon
Philippines, all of whom keep, or have kept until recently, their traditional
religion and way of life. Some live in the tropical forests of the foothills
but most; live in rugged grassland and price forest zones higher up.
Economic poverty is just one type of poverty than the Igorot are facing
were land is considered to be a valuable asset and the Igorot don’t have
access to their land.
 Isinat- the isinay are greatly outnumber by Ilocano speakers in the
municipalities in which they lives, and in aritao they no longer have a
community of their own.
 Bugkalot- they are also community referred to as ilongot, especially in
older studies, but nowdays, the endonym bugkalot is preferred in modern
ethnic research. They were formerly headhunters.
2) In your observation, are there still instances of discrimination against our
indigenous peoples? What strategies could you suggest to eliminate
discrimination?

 There are still discrimination against our indigenous people that’s still happening
in our society and other places like treating them less, calling name and etc. the
strategies that I could suggest to eliminate discrimination is to educate people in
our community. Educate everyone who knows nothing about discriminations.
Also, implement peace and anti- discrimination campaign.

3) What government programs do you know are helpful to our indigenous

peoples? Discuss.
o ANCESTRAL DOMAIN / LAND RECOGNITION- through the IP
Rights Act (IPRA) , Certificate of Ancestral Domains Titles(CADTs)
are issued to formally recognize the rights of possession and ownership
of indigenous Cultural Community Indigenous Peoples( ICCs/IPs) over
their ancestral domains as identified and delineated in accordance with
this laws, while Certificate of Ancestral Land Titles(CALTs) formally
recognize the rights of ICCs/ IPs over their ancestral lands.
