VII. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:


1. What are other government projects and programs that are available for science education in the
Philippines? (10 pts.)

The Philippines Science Education Curriculum aims for the development of scientific and
technological for the betterment of the society and environment. The students enrolled in science
education must be literate and possess effective communication and interpersonal, as well as
technological and scientifically literate. Their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
are enhanced with scientific values and attitudes. There are various programs and projects offered in the
Philippines to support said visions. These projects and programs are organized under the Department of
Science and Technology (DOST). The DOST has an Undergraduate Scholarship for tertiary education
learners who want to pursue the science and engineering field of studies, they also have Graduate
Scholarship for those who want to pursue Masters's and Doctors Degree. Those students enrolled in
Science Education Curriculum has an opportunity to take JLSS is a scholarship program under the
Republic Act (R.A.) No. 2067 or the Merit Scholarship, R.A. No. 7687 or the “S&T Scholarship Act of
1994,” and the R.A. No. 10612 or the “Fast-Tracked S&T Scholarship Act of 2013.” Because these two
scholarships (RA No. 2067 and RA No. 7678) aim to increase the number of scientists and engineers that
will help boost knowledge creation and economic productivity in the country. R.A. 10612. The
Philippines Science Education also conducting Division, Regional and National Competition related to
Science, Technology, and Mathematics and also compete for their participant's international competitions
2. Are there private schools with outstanding science education program? Support your answer. Identify
and compare their science education programs with public science schools. (10 points)

Some schools have their different way of educating or different way of teaching their students. But
the private schools have more complete facilities such as laboratory and more compared to the public
schools. It depends on the way of their teaching quality.

3. Discuss science education related issues and problems in the country. If you are given the authority
to solve or chair an education committee, how do you address said issue? What policy/policies are
you going to propose/implement? (10 points)
It is now widely recognized that designing a curriculum is mainly a national concern, normally
shared between educational protagonists at the central, local and school level. The principle of
subsidiarity suggests that curriculum issues should not be addressed at the supranational level. Indeed,
experience shows that, until quite recently, international exchanges and co-operation. There are also
influences from the other stakeholders that have an interest in science education, such as parents,
businesses, local communities, and professional societies. These stakeholders can become engaged at all
levels national, state, local and often have a significant influence on what is taught and how it is taught. A
science education system must be responsive to a variety of influences—some that emanate from the top
down, some from the bottom up, and some laterally from outside formal channels.
