RED SOX AND CARLOS CORREA AGREE TO CONTRACT

All-Star shortstop signs to a 10-year, $345 million deal with the Boston Red Sox 

The Red Sox today issued the following statement on behalf of Principal Owner John Henry and
CEO Sam Kennedy:

Carlos Correa, 27, has officially signed a 10-year contract with the Boston Red Sox that will run
until the end of the 2032 season. With an average annual cost of just above 34 million dollars
per season.

Correa was born on September 22, 1994, in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Correa was 20 years old when
he broke into the big leagues on June 8, 2015, with the Houston Astros. He was drafted first
overall in 2012 by Houston.

The reported news of a deal being agreed upon came yesterday, while making it official today.
Chief of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom had this to say on the deal, “Carlos is obviously a
premier player in our game today. His numbers at the plate speak for themself. One of the most
fascinating things about him is that he has really been such a consistent force since the day he
broke into the big leagues. We are thrilled to add a player of his caliber to our organization.”

Manager Alex Cora, who spent a season with Correa as the Astros bench coach in 2017,
added; “Carlos has the ability to impact the game to a great magnitude on all aspects. Great at
the plate, great power, big frame, strong arm, high IQ. When you use the term ‘5-tool player’, he
is one of the names that truly fit that bill.”

Correa will immediately join the club and be under contract for the next 10 seasons. A live press
conference for the deal will be on December 5th at 12pm. 

The Boston Red Sox are a Major League Baseball Organization founded in 1901. Nine-time
World Series champions.
