1.0. Introduction
Management is defined as the set of principles that are connected with planning, organizing,
coordinating, controlling and directing employees in the organization. The idea of management
is connected with processing and controlling the organization affairs (Koohang et al, 2017).
Management emphasizes on to direct and control diverse group of people within an organization
so that they are able to reach a respective goal and engage with the manipulation of HR along
with financial resources, natural resources and technological resources. Management is
connected with the coordination as well as administration tasks to achieve workplace goals. The
emphasis of administration activities connect with the strategy of organization and coordinate
with the efforts for the staff to accomplish respective objectives by application for available
resources. Management emphasizes on the seniority structure regarding staff members in the
workplace.

Leadership is defined as the essential practice and emphasis is on the way that is able to be
prepared with the inspiration with others. The effective strategy of leadership is based on original
and borrowed ideas that motivate with group of people that act and achieve the common goal in
the workplace (Al-Ali et al, 2017). The business setting believes the directing of workers as well
as colleagues have been considered as a strategy to meet the needs of the company and
communicate it with the needs to emerge as a better leader. Leadership focuses on setting new
vision or direction for group of people as leader requires new direction while management is
connected with direct control of people and resources as per principles or values that are
established. Leadership is the procedure that influences a person to accomplish the objectives
and goals in order to have cohesive and coherent team leaders.

The concept of leadership and management is connected with the success of individuals in the
organization. The benefit connected with training program is based on the idea to develop
management and leadership skills within an organization as the material equips to achieve
professional details on management and leadership applied in different organization departments
(Eriksson et al, 2017). This makes management and leadership theories to be based on the tactics
to improve motivation and performance by application of the relevant leadership skills and
development since there is effectiveness of the teams based on the training programme which is
expected to achieve effective management and leadership skills that emerges as a tool to drive

3
the success in the organization. The focus of leadership concept is to lead and management is
based on to manage the diverse team of workers in the organization.

2.0. Content and Analysis

2.1. Role of Management and Leadership in Organization Efficiency

Management plays a huge role in organization efficiency as it focuses on the development,
maintenance along with resource allocation to achieve workplace goals and objectives. Managers
are the individuals responsible to develop and carry the process of management since managers
focus is on the primary functions which comprise of planning, organizing, leading and
controlling (Jabbar et al, 2017). The emphasis of the four functions of management focuses on to
enhance the efficiency and effectiveness in organization and manage the employees, projects and
procedure in the organization as a whole. The emphasis of the management depends on the
practices to enhance organization efficiency which is required to make the ‘management’ to be
able to trace the employees and guide hem on the right path. The emphasis of the employee is set
with efficient and productive work since management and leadership focuses on to lead with an
example. The criterion for good manager considers employees to make sure they have actually
done task themselves and effective management focuses on directing as well as organizing
resources and people that influence to make sure there is better productivity, coordination and
best possible effective results. The role of leadership is to set direction and management makes it
possible to have the working of large scale operations as good management always results in
major profit.

It is understood that management and leadership role since the universe actually is not dominated
by them while the quality of leadership at work is effective as good leader always set goals and
maintain priority with effective standards. The role of management and leadership impacts the
procedure to influence people from different cultural backgrounds and this is an effort based on
to achieve the workplace goals in the organization (Jiang et al, 2017). Management considers the
manager to be responsible to evolve and meet the constraints of organization internal and
external environments. The global marketplace believes supposed change and also implements

4
adaptability and flexibility to be a critical managerial procedure which is based on the basic
functional areas of the workplace: planning, leading, organizing along with controlling as these
objectives are accomplished in the workplace.

This makes management and leadership to be the key tactics applied which makes the problem to
be anticipated and analyze the opportunities which designs and plans to deal with staff. The
focus of leadership and management engages with allocation of the resources and implement
suitable plans and guide the personnel during management and review the tasks results and
implement decisions (Fiaz et al, 2017). The focus of the information connected with the
motivational factors and engages with superior performance. This makes management to actually
focus on the tasks and satisfy the workplace performance since the factors are connected with
respective factors which makes employee performance to be superior. These are the respective
factors connected with employee performance and as per Herzberg hygiene factors the
motivational aspects are connected with positive aspects connected with the workplace
motivation. There is positive satisfaction to be generated when emphasis of the respective factors
is more on to perform tasks with employees and achieve superior performance since employees
are able to intrinsically reward and motivate the psychological needs which perceive the major
additional benefits in the organization. The leaders have the perception to handle the culturally
diverse workforces and stay connected successfully with the company and emphasis of
leadership and management depends on to analyze the organizational goals.

In majority of the organization there are common goals achieved which makes companies along
with management and leadership to achieve similar profit targets. The organization has actual
sense which makes the leaders to be able to gather and perform the workplace complex tasks and
meet the goals of the organization (Shao et al, 2017). The emphasis of the organizational
efficiency means that there are qualitative goals and results achieved and there is minimal
resource being used which has least possible action and time to act in responsive manner.
However, a leader has efficiency when it comes to the work and performing tasks which is
investigative in nature and banks have the actual plan to ready and put the idea with people as
they work rationally in the situation and deal with the information usage which makes them able
to act in selected manner. The emphasis of the organization is more on to manage the tasks along
with resources in efficient manner and also appraise the employees and motivate them for their

5
excellent performance. However, leadership and management actually believe in the investment
of the basic excessive funds and deal with smaller interest levels within the organization.
Leadership plays a huge role to assess the workplace situations as rationally there is information
to focus on the workplace resources as the effectiveness is connected with identification of the
right target and achieve them successfully in the proper manner.

Management and leadership comprise of the procedure which ensure that the employees have the
idea to coordinate and accomplish the workplace aims (Hussain et al, 2017). The leaders are able
to create the plan and secure resources by emphasis on the good leaders criterion which manages
the workplace circumstances and deal with secure rights as the resources are quantified and
allocated well with effective and efficient management of organizational tasks and functions and
assess the deficiencies in workplace and correct them before there is any problem evident in
workplace and assess the leadership potential at every possible level. According to Alefari et al,
(2017), the management and leadership have focus on to deal with the common practices and
communicate with people who can accomplish the respective tasks. The criterion of leadership is
to form plan and secure the workplace resources and allocate the resources with the right aims.

The presence of good leaders make the plausible plans and management ensure there is secured
right resources in organization and implement efficient and effective functions which make sure
deficiencies are addressed in workplace. The focus of leadership and management is actually
based more on to analyze the working principles and make sure goals of the company are
accomplished which handle the basic primary functions. The idea of leadership and its main
function is to actually produce respective or constructive movement and follow procedures
which make established direction set by visioning and align the people and motivate them to be
inspiring in organization.

2.2. Barriers to effective quality management and leadership

Organizations actually have major concerns for effective quality management and leadership as
issues emerge when there are complications. There are cases when people actually fail to
communicate properly and this degenerates and causes confusions which results in project
failure. There are connections of communication based with exchange of ideas and information
and this is a barrier towards effective quality management and leadership ( Du Plessis, 2019). There

6
are many barriers for effective quality management and leadership as it is impossible for leaders
to achieve effective communication as there are many members that actually causes concern in
the organization. There are serious problem of perception that impacts the message which has
perceived with individual and when some message is delivered wrong than it costs the
management and ultimately adverse effect on company projects. However, another problem is
that the workforce is diverse when it comes to people from different cultural backgrounds and it
causes bias concerns since prejudice ultimately influences the essential message in the
workplace.

The idea of personal attitude is quite challenging which is a barrier for effective leadership and
management in organization as the focus is on feeling superior and to achieve tasks there are
defensive attitude which makes hindrance with the effective communication as it rises the
conflicts and confusion and issue emerges which impacts individuals (Brandon et al, 2018).
Similarly, the stress has effect on effective management of individuals and the reaction is
different in stressful situation for which the message actually is not understood well as there are
no proper instructions planned in the organization. This can cause downfall by drop in profits
and impacts nation’s economies and organizations.

There is a serious barrier evident in terms of organizational structure which is a barrier towards
the development of leadership in companies. The organizational culture is connected with the
shared value system, beliefs and attitude which connect with organization experience that is
needed for a period of time and makes organization to cause change which impacts the
organization member and react with the economic opportunities as the threats impact the
workplace (Luthra et al, 2018). There is emphasis of the culture to be adverse in workplace as it
acts as a serious barrier towards change and diversity in organization. The work dynamics is a
barrier towards effective leadership and management as the employees do not respond towards
change and this makes leadership development program to require improvement as per status
quo. However, the employees are actually forced in the current culture to think on the potential
leadership abilities which have been achieved for the development of tasks within the
organization.

The organizational culture is a major issue and specifically the unattractive profession is
designed for the potential staff and has considered the allegation which results in casual and

7
fragmented structure. This makes problem connected with the incapable development and deal
with the complications of training, development and education etc. The professionals and clients
in industry are actually a huge barrier for potential change to take place within the company as
there are strong members in workplace that are major barrier for the potential change which
occurs within the organization (O'Neill, 2018). Another barrier is the national culture which is for
the leadership development in companies. This makes the cultural characteristic based on
leadership and connects with family members since leadership is unattainable while the role of
selection impacts the employee decisions and is taken by leaders which need the proper
qualification and training from the key leader.

The emphasis of the existing companies is believed to follow generations and make sure the
existence is valued which makes expected change to take place and emerge in companies
(Jackson et al, 2018). The style of leadership is also barrier as employees at times are unable to
carve for the specific niche and also they consider to diminutive chances for employee
participation within organizations and set similar beliefs. There are weaknesses evident in
cultural diversity when employees belong from different cultural background which is a barrier
for effective management and leadership practices in the organization. The idea of leadership has
group and same values and beliefs which make the weakness evident in cultural diversity as
focus is more on the criterion set with the diverse cultural backgrounds.

There are also barriers for effective leadership and management as there is lack of opportunity,
skills and training in the workplace. This makes the lack of opportunity in industry for
employees and individuals to enhance their skills along with ability within the organization to
invest in projects of leadership development and allow new effective experiences which meet the
employee’s expectations in the organization (Kairys, 2018). The failure is evident when it comes
to meeting the expectation of employees along with management of the acts connected with the
barrier to enhance the leadership and management skills in the workplace.

There are cases when skills shortage acts in industry as a barrier of leadership development. The
poor result of the projected industry along with low income as well as lack of academic and
vocational courses have contributed to the major factors connected with development of skills in
the construction sector (Aslam, 2018). The lack of general management skills is one of the
superior barriers for management and leadership development since poor management causes the

8
leaders to not be able to delegate the work and assign the results as there are wrong people
assigned with wrong job and with wrong time. This eventually is a huge barrier and has actually
made complications of the skills and employee influences that are demanded with the attitude
work and emphasis is on trustworthy and honest acts since it influences the skills of
management.

There are cases when organization has actually imposed the arrogant ability as there are no major
views and ability to listen to one another. The poor management skill causes leaders to view and
manage the change initiative preferred by leader and set instructions which have been listed in
the workplace (Sloof et al, 2019). The focus of the management and leadership practices make
the specific organization economy and company to feel the staff which makes change in
company as workers actually feel disconnected because of lack of supervision. This emerges as a
serious barrier towards effective management and leadership practices since organizations face
the serious concern with the competent work and refuses to allow the workers to use initiative
and manage the projects that are not completed on time as there is need to acquire cost for the
staff engaged in diverse business projects. Further barrier includes the lack of different systems
of appraisal and incentives in the organization (Tseng et al, 2019). The employees not being
rewarded and employees as well as management lack valuable contribution within the industry.
The case of the organization makes motivation as well as the basic need of employees with the
inspiration and deal with the challenges to reach the workplace goals. The lack of proper training
evaluation programs can also be noted as a serious barrier for effective management and
leadership. There are issues common when employees believe that they have unwillingness
developed and they are unable to coach and employees cannot assume to assess the lack of
ability of leadership and skills for which innovation is a serious criterion. This makes change
another issue which employees are threatened and it is a major obstruction and barrier for
effective leadership and management in the organization.

2.3. Reflection on role of leadership and management

The role of leadership and management are different depending on the organizational context. As
observed from the discussion management consider the responsibility of the tasks to plan,
coordinate, control and delegate tasks and this is done by the driving force of managers who pre-
determine the plans and accomplish respective goals. The management and workforce have been

9
distributed in different stages of the business as the work departments are connected while
leadership makes the role to guide the employees and set their direction in the workplace. The
management is responsible to deal with the business and allow management of tasks in different
departments (Buil et al, 2019). However, leadership makes the responsibility which brings
change and supports the employee assessment in the workplace which connects with employee
performance and accomplishes the tasks in the workplace.

Leadership ensures that the team in organization is able to complete the work and also they
enable the culturally diverse employees to stay connected with organizational goals. The
emphasis of effective leadership skills is that the leader wisely communicate and motivates the
staff which makes them productive and contributes positively towards the organizational revenue
growth and emphasis is more on the skilled workforce which achieves the organizational goals
and make sure objectives and goals are achieved in the company.

In companies, management emphasizes on to manage the teams and also all sorts of department
and make sure the skills are connected with the employees to perform well and complete the
tasks. The focus of the skills assessment consider the work to be completed and there is
difference evident among the leadership and management since management is connected with
individual focus while leadership is connected with the formal and informal groups (Vilkinas et
al, 2019). The basic feature of leadership is to connect and inspire people to meet the objectives
and this makes valuable results to be achieved as when employees have the right direction than
companies perform well and contribute towards the economic growth of the nation. The
behavior of leader plays a major role as the skills are known well as a way to be a critical tool to
measure employee potential in selected situation. This makes management and leadership to be
able to highlight the employee behavior in organization as the theory focuses on effectiveness
within organization and enhance business productivity.

However, the leadership and management theory is connected with efficiency and this drive the
behavior and connects with different departments. There should be formal training sessions done
by management in companies which will prepare the employees to be able to deal with the
different departments in the workplace and handle the organizational tasks in effective manner.
The barriers towards the effective leadership and management practices in organization can be
mitigated by focus on the following recommendations:

10
 The management and leaders should be proactive and lead by example since true leaders
will make the implementation and follow right direction in the organization.

 The management should be able to react and assess fluctuations in external environment.
This will help to manage the economic concerns of the nation and leaders should be able
to comprehend the changes well in the environment

 The management and leadership can be managed smoothly if the focus is on the wants of
the stakeholders. Companies should prioritize the needs of owners and employees along
with local companies. The stakeholders are essential part to achieve quality management
and success of organization from leadership view point (Kremer et al, 2019).

 There should be clear organizational view and assessment of the future which makes
planning ahead and constant change connected with goals and milestones ahead in future.

 The management should value and establish the ethical values in workplace which will
make culturally diverse employees feel connected with the organization and inspire staff
to be part of quality management.

 There should be development of trust and also effective leadership to promote internal
and external environment and motivate employees

 The workers should be equipped with the required resources and use freedom which
strive the accountability at different levels and make sure organizational goals are
accomplished in the workplace

 The employees should be able to motivate and inspire as management can motivate the
staff and there should be energy invested in quality management practices in the
organization.

 Leaders should foster honest and open communication. The need to have effective
communication is basic need in the organization for which the leader should have open
communication with all employees.

11
 The management should train and coach the employees which will be a way the
employees grab a better understanding of the way they can perform the tasks. This will be
a part of planning and coordinating function of management and the staff will know the
reason they are performing specific tasks.

 There should be challenging tasks and objectives set by management and leaders should
be able to foster and understand the constant development and growth by emphasis on to
enhance the goals and standards of work in the company.

Leadership and management emphasize on the specific decisions made with the departments as
the traditional approach makes the compelling management role to assess workplace
perspectives and objectives. The management carefully connects with the idea to ensure all
employees understand their respective tasks and enhance the efficiency in workplace as this will
cause growth in economy of nation. The skills of teams are managed by the leaders and these are
tested by skills assessment as managers actually require ensuring there is effective
communication. There should be open and flexible channel of communication adopted by
management which will make it easy to achieve the workplace goals. The ability to influence and
motivate employees is the management goal and done by the leadership skills possessed by
organizational leaders which results in revenue growth of the company.

3.0. Conclusion

In conclusion, leadership and management play a key role in every organization. The basic role
of leadership and management is to ensure that the targeted goals are accomplished and
workforce acts in responsive manner. However, the identified issues and barriers have been
listed since the leadership programs have been launched to educate and train the employees
specifically in general management and training them in effective communication skills so that
individuals are able to harness the key leadership skills. The recognition and identification of
effective and successful management require leadership promotion in workplace as the program

12
for management of leadership and inspire others have mentors for the youth. The emphasis of the
successful leaders in the industry actually promotes and inspires the young generation. The
success of leaders bring change in organization and emphasis of perceived culture of
organization and industry has set barriers for change as people follow the leadership potential
connected with organization coordination to enhance the working ability and leadership culture.
There are strategies which can be used to improve the leader potential since the cooperation
within companies enables leaders to develop the change. Similarly, the critical issue is evident to
address skills shortage in industry and take remedial action and strive well to retain skilled
employees and deal with effective professional development and achieve the potential skills for
management of skills and achieve professional development in organization.

Leadership and management practices are focused on to influence people as the efforts are
towards achievement of the workplace goals. The procedure of leadership actually guides others
and make sure the behavior is connected with the stated workplace objectives. The case makes
orientation to imply with the idea to encourage people and act in selected way to pursue the
career and action. The emphasis of leader is based on to analyze the individual and group related
tasks that achieve the goals in the organization and make sure everything is done in a way to
successfully guide and achieve the tasks. Thus the emphasis of the industry skills and shortage
has been a critical factor and to retain the workforce there should be professional development
standards that will enable potential to develop for effective leadership and management in the
organization.
