Easy Fingerless Mitts

Entirely in stockinette stitch, these


mitts are knit flat and seamed. The
left and right are identical and will fit
either hand.

2 hanks 1149 Indian Teal

Needles
Knitting needle in sizes US 5 and 6
(3.75 and 4 mm) or size to obtain
gauge.

Gauge
20 sts and 28 rows = 4" in Stockinette
stitch, with larger needles. Take time
to save time, check your gauge.

Pattern Stitches
Stockinette Stitch (St st)
Knit on the RS, purl on the WS.

Backward Loop Cast-on Method


*Wrap yarn around left thumb from front to back and secure in palm with
other fingers. Insert needle upwards through strand on thumb. Slip loop
from thumb onto RH needle, pulling yarn to tighten. Rep from * for desired
number of sts.

Mitts
With smaller needles, CO 35 (41) sts. Work in St st for 2".
Change to larger needles and work in St st until pc meas 3 (4)" from beg,
ending with a WS row.

Thumb Gusset:
Abbreviations Set-up row (RS): K16 (19), pm, kfb twice, pm, k17 (20) – 37 (43) sts; 2 sts inc’d.
approx: approximately Purl 1 row (WS).
beg: begin(ning)
BO: bind off *Inc row: K16 (19), slm, kfb, k until 1 st rem before marker, kfb, slm, k17 (20) –
CO: cast on 2 sts inc’d.
dpn: double pointed needles Purl 1 row (WS).
inc(‘d): increase(d) Rep from * 6 more times – 51(57) sts.
k: knit
kfb: knit into the front and back of Work 4 rows even.
