Standards Evidence

Standard 1: Understanding and addressing Making each student in my classroom feel

each child’s development and learning Needs seen, known, and included is very important
to me. Being aware of their cultures and
individual needs helped me build lessons that
were engaging and inclusive. I did not want
anyone to feel singled out. During our math
and Reaching lessons, the students completed
checklists that were tailored to their needs.
More content rich and stretching activities for
my higher students and fewer, but still content
driven activities for my lower students. These
students needed work they could complete
independently. They also had fewer
assignments because they get pulled for small
groups more frequently and by their SPED
teachers.

Standard 2: Understanding and applying Using the different resources made available
content and curricular knowledge for teaching to me, I created lessons that were engaging,
practical, and aligned with the standards for
each subject and grade being taught. Using a
mix of information from district lesson plans,
district standards, state standards, and the
State framework. This can be seen in any of
the five lesson plans under the Professional
Development Page.

Standard 3: Assessing, planning, and Assessing, planning, and designing content is

designing context for learning very important in the educational world. I
would use pre and post assessments on units
to build my instructional plans. Using the data
I was able to group students and know exactly
which parts of the unit I needed to focus the
whole group on. Comparing the pre and post
assessments not only helped me see the
growth and gaps in my students. It also helped
me self assess my own teaching and growth.
In places where multiple students had a
misconception or were confused, it was often
me not teaching it clearly. If and when that
happened, I would be quick to retreat and
correct myself. My Data Assessment is an
example of how I assessed and planned.

Standard 4: Supporting Each Child’s I learned very quickly how each of my

Learning Using Effective Instruction students learned best and tried to offer
multiple opportunities for them to learn.
Outside of whole group lessons, we had
hands-on activities, technology resources,
videos, and manipulatives to help each child
learn in a way that was helpful to them.
Centers and independent work in my
kindergarten lesson plans show how I used
rotations and activities to connect the
standards of our lesson in ways that were
unique and fun.

Standard 5: Developing as a profession During my student teaching experience I was

placed with teachers who were both the chair
of the grade. I was able to attend every
meeting during teacher work week my first
week. I also attended collaborations,
professional development lectures, staff
meetings, PBIS meetings, and different
committee meetings. Each one I learned
something new and practiced working in a
collaborative community. I also used my
evaluations to make sure I was growing and
assessing myself along the way. My
evaluations can be seen under the Professional
Preparations Page.
