I. Introduction

Road line markings were created to help road users navigate the road systems,

making us aware of upcoming hazards and of key bits of information to help us drive

appropriately for the situation (Three Counties Lining, n.d.). A.D.A.S. (Advance Driver

Assistance System) were invented to help drivers utilize and identify road line markings.

However, according to a study conducted by the American Automobile Association,

vehicles equipped with advanced driving assistance systems – such as lane-keeping

and lane-wander warning technology – behave inconsistently and are potentially

dangerous (Davis, 2020).

One of A.D.A.S. is Lane Departure systems and it has existed since 2001

(Hiroshi, 2001. However, these lane departure systems are only found as built-in or

modified in car shops in high-price. Portable lane departure systems are also available

in the market but only in the form of dash cams which are expensive.

Electronics components and materials, like Arduino boards and sensors, are now

widely-available and accessible on commercial market. By utilizing these accessible

materials of their cheapest alternatives/kind, the researchers will create an accessible,

affordable, and effective Line keeping device.

This study determines the difference in accuracy, portability, and the effectivity

between the produced alternative lane line detection device from the commercialized

built-in road lane detectors. The study will help reduce road-related and traffic accidents

by creating an ADAS that is easy-to-install, affordable, and effective.
