Though it is obvious that education and the learning process has been benefited a lot thanks to the

development of technology, the technology itself only can change the role of teacher advantageously
rather than lead to the disappearance of teachers. First of all, it can be seen that although better acquisition
of knowledge can be achieved with the help of complicated and intelligent programs, the need of human
interaction in the learning process is no doubt integral. Moreover, there is necessity for a human being to
be able to determine what the specific needs of each individual are. No matter how sophisticated and
complex programs or software are, they cannot replace the expertise of teacher in how to explain and
adapt complex concepts to different students. Secondly and more importantly, teachers not only guide
student to the acquisition of knowledge, but they also are open-minded and serves as problem solvers to
students. It is commonly understood that students, especially children, require the watchful eyes of the
teacher to ensure that they are not fooling around during and after class time, which unfortunately is
impossible to be fulfilled with the artificial teacher. Furthermore, the presence of teachers during is vital
for the development of student’s emotion, characteristic and morality. These qualities can be learnt
theoretically through computers or digital books, but only when students witness their teacher as examples
can they truly understand as well as take in these. By way of conclusion, complex as technology can
become, there will be no replacement for the role of teachers in class.
