Creativity in Organizations (03 CIO)

FALL SEMESTER 2021-22

ASSESSMENT 2 (a) – INDIVIDUAL REPORT BRIEF, WEIGHTING: 70%

You are requested to select two creative organizations (service /product providers) working in
the same field in Oman. Students are encouraged to select organizations in which they are
familiar or currently employed in any creative sector such as tourism, hospitality,
airlines, events, banking, retail, and transportation industries, etc...

This is an individual report.

You are required to write a comparison report on the selected organizations


discussing the following:
 
PART A: key characteristics of creativity (6 C’s) in the chosen companies (A&B)
1. Communication
2. Curiosity
3. Collaboration
4. Change
5. Common goal
6. Confidence
PART B: Using the same organizations answer the following two question
1- Is creativity crucial for success?
2- What does creativity bring to the chosen companies?

The report must follow the outline below:


 Introduction - Describe your report topic and introduce the chosen
organizations.
Discussion - You are required to introduce key characteristics of creativity (6 C’s)
in the chosen companies (A&B). Explain the relationship between creativity and success
in the chosen companies. In practical examples, justify what does creativity bring to the
chosen companies

Conclusion - This part summarizes the points discussed and draws together
your overall understanding or findings based on the discussions' identified issues.

General Instructions:
1. Use the prescribed format: font – Arial or Calibri, font size 12 and 1.5 spacing;
margins – left 1.25, top, bottom and right: 1.0
2. You are required to use academic references to support your work. (Minimum
10). Your report must be supported by relevant academic literature related to your
topic. Students are expected to research various sources including personal
experience and observations, and refer relevant information from textbooks, journal
articles, published reports, company websites, magazines, and newspapers to write
this report.
3. Harvard referencing must be used. Your report will not be marked if you
failed to follow the Harvard in-text citation. Resubmission of assessment and
the mark is capped at 40.

1. Your report should be submitted through Moodle by week 11 (Nov 28 to Dec 2,


2021).
4. (Read sections on Assignment Submission and Late Submission in the OTC
Undergraduate Student Handbook for details).
5. The use of unfair means in any form is unacceptable and will be dealt with strictly.
You must read the sections on Academic Offenses in the OTC Undergraduate
Student Handbook.

6. If required by the tutor, students must present their report in front of a


committee.

7. The word limit does not include the title page, table of contents, abstract, tables,
diagrams, references and appendices. 10 % higher or lower from the prescribed
word limit is acceptable. However, you should note the following with regard to
word count regulations.

General Instructions for Seminar Presentation (Individual )

2. All students must make their presentations in week 11 (Nov 28 to Dec 2, 2021).
3. All group members are required to be present during their respective presentations.
4. Each member will be marked individually; individual participation is
compulsory.
5. Absent without prior permission to the presentation will lead to 0 marks.
6. You must submit a copy of your presentation and the material you have used for
the presentation
7. You are required to present your report to the class for a maximum of 10
minutes, and the question-and-answer session is for 5 minutes.

Your presentations will be graded according to the following


criteria.
CONTENT & UNDERSTANDING: 40%
Understanding of concepts
Relevancy and accuracy of the content to the requirements of the assessment
Technical terms and vocabulary are used appropriately
Shows evidence of wide reading/investigation
ORGANISATION: 15%
Logical organization and flow of information
Presentation is well-timed and balanced
Creativity: Visual aids/animations etc. are used to communicate effectively.
PRESENTATION SKILLS: 30%
Maintains good eye contact
Tone and expression are clearly linked to the subject matter
Body language is appropriate
Expresses ideas clearly using language effectively.
RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS: 15%
Responds accurately to questions, demonstrating knowledge and engagement with the
topic.
