Subject: Addressing Water Scarcity on Social Media

Dear Marketing Team,

Thank you for taking the time to correspond with me about our social media presence. I want to
bring your attention to a growing issue in our society, and I would like to propose an idea on how
our organization can help alleviate this issue. While 70% of our planet is covered in water, we do
not have as much useful water as one would think. Our freshwater supply is scarce and
incredibly rare. This type of water is what we drink, bathe in, and irrigate farm fields with. Water
is a necessity for our survival, so it is important that we understand how this issue affects
everyone in our world. Water scarcity affects habitats as well as health, yet we continue to
negatively affect our freshwater supply and surrounding ecosystems via pollution, agriculture,
and population growth.

The American Rivers Organization has done a great job of promoting the need for change and
helping to save rivers and freshwater. In my opinion, the best thing the American Riversthe o
Organization has done for our environment is promoting ways to save water on our website.
However, one of the biggest problems our company faces is that our viewers don’t know how to
alleviate the issue of water scarcity on a daily basis. The organization is doing a great job of
driving traffic to our website, but we are not getting the recognition we deserve on social media.
Some viewers may know that water is becoming more and more scarce every day, but they don’t
know what steps to take to combat this global issue.

With the rise of social media, I think it would be extremely beneficial to promote more water
stewardship information on our platforms. This will bring people in to learn about all the causes
of water scarcity along with the steps to combat these issues. Having more of a social media
presence will not only raise awareness of water scarcity but will also, hopefully, move people to
action. This will benefit the organization greatly and inspire others to make a difference.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this solution and how you think we can implement a
broader social media presence for our organization! You can contact me at ckeller@arorg.com
within the next week to schedule a meeting time to discuss our ideas. I hope that you will
consider my proposal, and I appreciate your time.

Thank you,

Distribution List: Marketing and Social Media Team

The purpose of this memo is to provide each of you with more information for your own work.
As some may know, water is becoming more and more scarce every day. Water is a necessity for
our survival, so it is important that we understand how this issue affects everyone in our world.
Water scarcity affects habitats as well as health, yet we continue to negatively affect our
freshwater supply and surrounding ecosystems via pollution, agriculture, and population growth.
After reviewing American Rivers Organization’s social media platforms, I found that there was
not much information being given to the public on water scarcity. I think we should use this
opportunity to begin publishing more helpful material.

Summary
This report addresses issues of water scarcity in our society, and the purpose is to begin utilizing
social media to address this growing issue. While I do think our company has a good social
media presence, I think we can take it a step forward by promoting more ways to save water on
our platforms. This is a crucial way in which we can help alleviate this global issue and inspire
others to take action.

Causes of Water ScarcityProblem

Causes of Water Scarcity
Water pollution is an increasing issue, and it is increasing at an alarming rate. It is caused by
many different sources including pesticides and fertilizers, untreated human wastewater, and
industrial waste. Pollution also contributes to global climate change in that it directly affects our
atmosphere. As humans pump more carbon dioxide and dangerous gases into the atmosphere,
this will continue to put everyone at risk. Climate change affects patterns of weather and water,
and it increases the frequency of droughts and floods.

The global population growth, like water scarcity, is growing every day. Because of this rapid
growth, the number of people drawing on water resources has also increased. If the consumption
of freshwater continues at unsustainable levels, then the concern about access to safe water
grows even more.

How it Affects Us
How it Affects Us
Natural landscapes often lose out when water becomes scarce. These ecological catastrophes can,
thus, create food shortages and result in a decrease in life expectancy. With a lack of access to
water in our environment, this creates human diet resource problems and increases the risk of
climate change. Furthermore, climate change is altering patterns of weather, and this results in
shortages and droughts. Inadequate sanitation can also lead to deadly diseases including cholera,
typhoid fever, and other water-borne illnesses.

Recommendations
In order to alleviate the issue of water scarcity, we must first bring attention to the issue at hand.
We must not forget about how our actions affect the environment and how water will not be
around forever. Promoting water stewardship is vital when it comes to limiting water scarcity. If
we do not contribute making water scarcity less severe, then this could lead to the lack of safe
drinking water, threatened ecosystems, increased poverty, heightened conflict, and higher food
costs. Water stewardship is essential for all communities in the world. We should be more
considerate of this growing issue and be more mindful about how much water we use on a daily
basis.

It is recommended that we utilize social media to take our organization a step further. By
incorporating ways to conserve water on our social media platforms, this will provide more
awareness about water scarcity for others. The best solution is to take advantage of such social
media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Utilizing these platforms would allow
American Rivers Organization to post pictures, infographics, and stories showing simple ways
people can conserve water even at home. Seeing such visuals are vital during this process
because they can sometimes attract more people than articles or research can.

Conclusion
In conclusion, Wwater scarcity is an ever-growing issue that needs to be addressed. I think our
company can make a huge impact and bring awareness to the lack of clean water in our world by
implementing more social media tactics. As a result, this will reach more people and hopefully
inspire them to take action along with us.

Some specific water stewardship topics that we should cover include taking shorter showers,
installing low-flow toilets, collecting rainwater, reusing graywater, eradicating leaks, and
investing in sustainable energy and water reduction initiatives.
