Local parents are “OKAY” with fighting.

Bullying is not an uncommon thing, especially when it comes to differences that one may have.
Larry Ratner is short. So short that he faces torment from the neighborhood kids. This bullying
scheme has gotten so out of hand that his parents have finally spoken their minds. The ex-
teachers have reported saying the following after an incident that left their son bruised, “we’re
saying that we’d be okay to pick you up from school if we get a call that you’ve been in a fight.”
In absolute support is the father who has told us that he as well, was short. He shares with us
the name-calling that he too had to endure growing up a late bloomer, as well as informing us of
when it just about ended. “... I was short, like Larry. And when a bigger kid picked on me, I hit
him,” stated the dad when asked why he wouldn’t mind getting a call from the school that his
son had been in a fight. The fathers’ support in violence against oppressors can be seen when
he and his wife make the decision to place Larry into karate. The consequences of their choice
will prove to later be a reason for their child’s pain.

What I learned from this assignment is that I wouldn’t mind being a news analyst. I enjoyed getting to
personally dissent the parent’s actions and use it to describe them mentally.

Challenges (3-5 sentences):

A challenge that presented itself with this assignment was time. We had to read the book, analyze, and
construct. That would have been harder if I didn’t have my partner. He helped set things into perspective.
