IMPLEMENTATION OF 24 HOUR CURFEW FOR THE MINORS IN THE TIME OF
PANDEMIC
The Philippines ordinance 2020-074, also known as the 24-hour COVID-19 curfew, which extends until
the 8:00p p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew. Curfews do work in keeping teenagers out of trouble. They have
established this curfew while allowing people in the middle of these age groups to work in order to keep
the economy afloat. This method, along with physical separation, makes epidemiological and economic
sense. However, because adolescence is a developmental time unlike any other, the psychosocial effects
of an "age-determined" curfew should not be underestimated. To guarantee that the curfew has the
intended effect, authorities should convey to this special group more explicitly the need to obey since, by
observing the curfew, they are assisting in problem-solving, saving lives, and being unseen heroes for the
elderly. By developing a sense of responsibility in active problem-solving, adolescents will be more
logically considering the repercussions of the outbreak, helping them to hypothetically weigh the benefits
and drawbacks of the curfew. Adjusting family limits for teenagers may aid in achieving a balance of
freedom and responsibility. To promote adherence to the prolonged curfew, parents must involve the
teenagers in decision-making and rules that affect their limited life within the confines of their home.
Although quarantining a teen may be difficult for the entire family at first, focusing on the teen's agenda
and respecting the youngster's confidentiality may enhance family bonds, and families may end up being
stronger in the end.
Adolescents' focus changes from their parents to their peers as they mature, and they must develop
independent social interactions and social responsibilities within peer groups. Adolescents become much
more aware of their social status within peer groups, and a sense of belonging with peers becomes much
more salient during adolescence, so it is critical to explain to them that this separation is only physical.
Adolescents throughout the world are committed users of internet technology, which may be used to keep
them connected with peers during this time, so family members should encourage them to be creative in
coming up with new ways to contact their pals. Most are saying that it is unconstitutional and should not
be supported because it takes away, teens under the age of eighteen, while others think that it will lower
crime rates and create a safer place for growing teens. But are we really so sure of that? A curfew is
necessary for teens. In the end, people must follow the curfew protocol, to make sure teenagers have
structure to protect them from danger and avoid infected from the virus.
