TOPIC ASSIGNMENT : HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN SINGAPORE

In general, Singapore's health system is designed to provide subsidized health services and is
directly supervised by the Ministry of Health of the Singapore Government. No wonder, if
someone says treatment in Singapore is relatively affordable for expatriates and foreign
nationals.
As in Indonesia, Singapore's health system consists of hospitals or clinics that are managed
directly by the government and the private sector. There is also a health care financing system
that is implemented through a mix of direct government subsidies, mandatory savings and
national health insurance. In fact, the Singapore government regularly adjusts its health service
tariff policy, so that the cost of treatment remains under control.
On the infrastructure side, medical services between public and private hospitals in Singapore
both have high service standards. However, both offer different levels of comfort.
Singaporean citizens and permanent residents are entitled to subsidized government health
services through the national mandatory savings scheme, while foreigners holding work
permits get health insurance either through the company or purchasing it privately. It is not
mandatory for employers in Singapore to provide health insurance benefits.
The Singapore government has a major role in the design of the health system in hospitals. For
example, determining the number of inpatient beds supply, the use of drugs to treatment
methods or medical devices with the latest technology.
Singaporean citizens and permanent residents admitted to public hospitals receive government
subsidies for their medical expenses. Subsidies are determined based on the class of care they
choose as well as their income. Meanwhile, people who have no income, such as retirees or
housewives, will have a subsidy rate that is pegged to the value of their home.
For foreign nationals who want to go to Singapore for treatment, they do not receive subsidies
from the Singapore government. However, they can use the insurance they have, if they do
cover the cost of treatment abroad.
Singapore's healthcare system is amazing spending far less than we do achieving results that
would make most experts cry with joy and doing so with a combination of public and private
input, 37 in the world in quality in 2000 ranking singapore 6 france is number 1 remember how
as spends about 18% of GDP on health care, Singapore spends about 4 percent of GDP on
health care in 2009 Singapore spends about $2,000 per person compared to the United
States more than 7,000, Singapore in completing health care is set by the government and has
a maximum limit in about forty three thousand five hundred dollars where you shift your
mandatory savings to some other account you can use your Medisave account to pay for
inpatient care and some outpatient care, Singapore tries to incentivize people to have children
if they have babies with default condition.
The number of nurses in singapore fell for the first time in more than 15 years as covid-19
created more jobs, there are several reasons why the number of nurses recorded last year was
572 fewer nurses overall than in 2019 despite having 45 more nurses there may be fewer and
nurses in the future as the younger ones will eventually upgrade themselves to become
nurses, registered nurses not all graduates working on enrolled programs can qualify for a
diploma in 2000, management development institute singapore said increasing many registered
nurses at their level also realized that with the pandemic there is more need for critical thinking
skills so they realized they needed to improve so they came to join us.
What I found is Singapore really surprised me I found that in Singapore they have the best
outcone rated number five or six in the entire world at the best price they spend by any measure
less than one quarter og what we do yet we and up at the bottom almost every chart for health
outcomes so they have a system Singapore as a system which is what I called in the book
affordable excellence that’s the titke of the book not only have they created it but they can
maintain affordable excellence the overarching lesson is the importance of good governance
Singapore has had the ability to govern it self well over the last 50 year they coordinate the of
their ministry. They make long term plans nad they execute those plans with sensitivity to the
realotos but under that theres a number of specific lessons we can apply here at home to
improve the cost outcome aquation of our health care system.
