You must answer Question 1, Question 2 and two other questions.

Q-1 Choose any two of the following passages from the Qur’an, and:

(a) briefly explain the main theme(s) in each passage [4]

(b) briefly explain the importance of these themes in a Muslim’s life today. [4]

Surah Inam 75-79

i) And thus We showed Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, so that he might
become one of those who have sure faith.. (6:76) Then, when the night outspread over him, he
beheld a star, and said: 'This is my Lord.' But when it went down, he said: 'I do not love the
things that go down.' (6:77) Then, when he beheld the moon rising, he said: 'This is my Lord!'
But when it went down, he said: 'Were that my Lord did not guide me, I surely would have
become among the people who have gone astray.' (6:78) Then when he beheld the sun rising,
he said: 'This is my Lord. This is the greatest of all.' Then, when it went down, he said: 'O my
people! Most certainly I am quit of those whom you associate with Allah in His divinity.  (6:79)
Behold, I have turned my face in exclusive devotion to the One Who originated the heavens
and the earth, and I am certainly not one of those who associate others with Allah in His
divinity.' (6:80)

Surah Maida 110

ii) And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour upon you
and your mother: how I supported you with the holy spirit 1 so you spoke to people in ˹your˺
infancy and adulthood. How I taught you writing, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel. How you
moulded a bird from clay—by My Will—and breathed into it and it became a ˹real˺ bird—by My
Will. How you healed the blind and the lepers—by My Will. How you brought the dead to life—
by My Will. How I prevented the Children of Israel from harming you when you came to them
with clear proofs and the disbelievers among them said, “This is nothing but pure magic.”

iii) Surah kausar 108

“Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar. So pray to your Lord and sacrifice
[to Him alone]. Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off”.

Q-2-(a)-"Qur'an is the central religious text of Islam". Discuss this statement in detail through
distinguishing Characteristics of the Holy Quran. [10]

(b)- "Understanding the *Quran is more important than just the recitation of the Holy Quran*" Do you
agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer. [4]

Q-3-(a)- Discuss in detail that how initially good relationship of Prophet (PBUH) with Jews changed over
time in Madinah ? [10]

(b)- Prophet (PBUH) ordered the killing of all the combatants of the Banu Qurayza tribe in Medina. Is it
justified? [4]

Q-4-(a)-*Prophet (Pbuh) successfully conveyed God's message to the world and managed to gain
large number of followers because of his refined manners and wise leadership* Discuss in detail his
leadership qualities by mentioning three examples of his life. [10]

(b)- *Prophet's (Pbuh) Migration to Madina was not a brave course of action*. Do you agree or
disagree? Give reasons for your answer. [4]

Q-5-(a)- Discuss in detail the causes, main events and of terms of the treaty of Hudaibiya . [10]
(b)- Treaty of Hudaibiya proved to be a turning point in the history of Islam. Discuss [4]
