EXHAUST GAS CLEANING SYSTEMS (EGCS) – STATUTORY

SCHEME ‘B’ (CONTINUOUS MONITORING WITH PARAMETER CHECKS)

The Documents listed in paragraph 1 of the appendix have been examined for compliance with MARPOL Annex VI,
Regulation 4.1 and in accordance with the IMO Guidelines, contained in IMO Resolution MEPC.259 (68) and have
been assigned an appraisal status as indicated subject to the following:

Comments Action
1. The CFD report has not been consolidated into the ETM-B and is assumed to be considered as a AQS
stand-alone document. It is therefore assumed that the required review of simulations performed by
others as part of the Statutory approval process will be conducted separately. Upon verification that
the CFD report complies with IMO Resolution MEPC.259(68) 10.1.2.1.2 pH criteria, the document is
to be kept on board with the ETM-B, OMM, SECP and RB. Attending Surveyor to confirm; final
acceptance is pending.
2. This approval is subject to verification that arrangements on board are identical to those as described AQS
in the manuals.
3. This approval is subject to the satisfactory calibration of exhaust gas and wash water monitoring AQS
instruments (zero and span checks) being carried out in the presence of a Surveyor to the Lloyd’s
Register Group.
4. It is noted that operating limits of EGCS are to be confirmed and verified while in operation by AQS
attending Surveyor. Testing does not have to be undertaken at full load as long as compliance is
demonstrated.
5. Reference is made to the following Type Approval certificates issued for the Continuous Emission AQS
Monitoring (CEM) system and Wash Water Monitoring System (WWM); it remains the responsibility
of the owner / operator of the vessel to ensure suitable operating procedures are in place to ensure
compliance with the ‘Other Conditions’ as stated therein:
• LR Type Approval Certificate No. 19/20023; and
• LR Type Approval Certificate No. 17/20113.

6. Attending Surveyor to confirm on-site that the listed CROE Designated Scrubber Serial Numbers AQS
correspond with the specific vessel for which it is to be fitted on as per the Class Document (MSD-
M01009-CD-Rev-1).
7. If arrangements on board are found to differ from those described in the manual(s), the attending -
Surveyor will correct a copy of the manual(s) accordingly and return it/them to “Americas Technical
Support Office, Lloyd’s Register Canada Ltd”, for re-approval.
8. It is concluded that English is the language understood by ship’s personnel engaged in operations as -
described in the manuals. If this is not the case, it should be noted that it is the responsibility of the
owner to provide copies of the manuals accurately translated into a language as applicable.
9. Upon verification that the above conditions have been complied with, the attending Surveyor will AQS
sign and date appropriate boxes on the approval page of the manuals thereby confirming his
acceptance.
10. Section 2.3 and 2.6 of the supplement to the ship’s International Air Pollution Prevention Certificate AQS
will then be amended; reflecting the type of equipment fitted and date of approval of the manuals.

The information contained in the SOx Emission Compliance Plan (SECP), Onboard Monitoring Manual (OMM), EGC System Technical Manual “Scheme B”
(ETM-B) and EGC Record Book have been examined for the compliance with Resolution MEPC.259 (68), Scheme ‘B’ (Continuous Monitoring with
Parameter Checks), in accordance with Regulation 4.1 of the revised MARPOL Annex VI, which allows the use of alternative compliance method.
This Approval Page should be retained with the above documents on board the ship.
The Owner remains responsible for the accuracy of the information and details given in above documents. Any amendment should be raised to Lloyd’s
Register Group for consideration.
