Dr. H. Barret, wants to tell us that testing gives you a snapshot, because
test usually takes place at a particular time, giving a test to your students,
gives you an idea on how students prepare on their test, if they are
reviewing their notes or not, and what are they feel towards the test, if
they are excited or not. Like a photo, the snapshot does in a quickly way
to take that moment. On the other hand, Portfolio gives you a movie,
because Portfolio is not a snapshot, Portfolio is a compilation of works, with
a variety of evidence on how student’s learn. It is a motion of pictures on
the overall progress and development of students over time. Like a movie,
you know the story of your students, you know what are they feel, thinking,
and reflection in their learning, the students is the character and author of
their learning.
