●Safety inspections (6 items)

Safety-related testing methods and measurement equipment are prescribed
in safety test standards. At the actual sites where medical treatment is being
given, however, it can be extremely difficult to verify that everything meets
the standards. For this reason, when performing inspections, set up and
make acceptance determinations using the methods described below.

WARNING
If, during a safety inspection, a value that exceeds the allowable limit is
confirmed, immediately stop using the given unit; then replace the
defective part or make proper repairs. Failure to repair the unit can lead to
a serious accident.

Before checking the leakage current

There are a number of conditions for measuring leak current. For the
measured values, however, use the maximum values that are obtained.
When checking, it is also important to make comparisons with past
measured values to confirm that there are no large differences.
To measure the leakage current, use leakage current gauges (electronic
voltmeters and digital voltmeters), impedance for measurement, power
switch box, and similar equipment.

Impedance for measurement

The impedance will have a structure such as that shown below.

R1 :10k ± 5% (No lead)

R1 R2 :1k ± 1% (No lead)
C1 :0.015µF ± 5% (No lead)
V : Voltmeter
R2 C1 V

By measuring the voltage at both ends of the impedance, you can find the
leakage current.

Voltmeter
Because digital voltmeters are required to indicate true effective values for
composite waveform from DC to 1 MHz, it is recommended that you use a
voltmeter whose performance meets the prescribed standard as closely as
possible.
For use during maintenance and inspection in the field, you can use a
commercially available digital voltmeter instead. However, check the
frequency band of the voltmeter you plan to use ahead of time. To measure
a leakage current that exceeds the measurable frequency band, use it with
care paying attention to the indication on the voltmeter.

2 - 23
Chapter 2

Electric current calculation method

When checking a leakage current, measure the AC voltage by using a
leakage current measuring device (MD).

Convert the measured voltage to current by employing the formula below.

If the phase is switched and measurements are made, use the higher voltage
to calculate the current.

Measured voltage (V)

3.OPERATION BOARD(PCB-6866)
4.POWER BOARD(PCB-6863)
6.CARTRIDGE BOARD(PCB-6818) [option]

The electrocardiographic signal input through the patient connector is boosted and is
AD-converted by the ECG AMP BOARD and then, by the MAIN BOARD, an
electrocardiogram is displayed and recorded, arrhythmia examination, R-R interval and
various other treatments, measurements and analyses are performed.
On the POWER BOARD, power supplied from the AC power supply is changed into
voltages (3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, +5 VBAT) necessitated by other circuits and supplied to them.
+24 V is supplied to the thermal head and motor driver.
The OPERATION BOARD transfers LCD signal from the MAIN BOARD, and controls
the operation panel and TOUCH PANEL.

Electric Circuit Diagrams

MAIN CPU section

The MAIN CPU, which uses SH7709A, carries out processing of
electrocardiogram display, record, other basic operations as
electrocardiograph, processing of LAN, supervision of backup battery, and
processing related to mark sensor. The internal clock which operates at 128
MHz controls the address bus, data bus, peripheral devices, and performs
different actions according to setting determined by software.

MAIN G/A section

The MAIN G/A section mainly performs the following.
・ ECG control
・ Different timing controls
・ Thermal control

4-3
Chapter 4

Memory section
The memory section can be divided into the following blocks.
(1) FLASH ROM
(2) SDRAM

(1) FLASH ROM

The FLASH ROM, which used one E28F640J3A-120 (64Mbit), is used
for program store, function setting store, electrocardiogram data store,
etc.

4-4
Electric Circuit Diagrams

(2) SDRAM
Consisting of two MT48LC8M16A2TG-75's (128 Mbits), the SDRAM
is used for program store and waveform work area.

4-5
Chapter 4

AMP, LAN interface section

[B100kHz] and [B100kHz_L] are square waves for driving the transformer
of pulses output from the MAIN G/A. To the line of send/receive data
([TXD]/[RXD]) from the ECG AMP BOARD, diodes (D4, 5) are
connected for protection from electrostatic charge or other excessive
voltages. As for receive data ([RXDA/B]), 2 Schmitt inverters each (IC14,
15) for waveform shaping are connected.
The LAN91C96 is used as a LAN controller.

4-6
Electric Circuit Diagrams

LCD controller section

As a device, S1D13705 is used.

Thermal head control section

The thermal head signal from the MAIN G/A is output to the thermal head.
To each signal line, a buffer for level change and an R and L network as a
filter are connected.

4-7
Chapter 4

Motor control section

The MTD2007F (IC29) is equipped as a motor control IC to control the
stepping motor of the recorder block.

Real time clock

As a real time clock device, RTC-4574SAA incorporating a crystal
resonator of 32.768 kHz is used. The real time clock is driven by [VBAT].
Therefore, unless the Ni-MH battery (BT1) is mounted, the real time clock
does not work.

4-8
Electric Circuit Diagrams

Wait control section

In the wait control section, GAL16LV8C-15J of CMOS PLD is used. This
device processes a wait signal output from the MAIN G/A, LCD controller
or other control ICs, and outputs an optimum wait signal to the MAIN
CPU.

Reset circuit section

In the reset circuit section, MAX6365LKA29-T is used as a reset IC. The
reset IC supervises +3.3 V and, if it has become +1.2 V or lower, resets the
entire system.

4-9
Chapter 4

Sensor control section

There are magazine UP sensor and mark sensor. As for the magazine UP
sensor, a signal is output through connector P7 pin 1. Opening the
magazine turns off the switch and transmits "L" level signal to the MAIN
CPU. When the magazine is closed, "H" level signal is output.
As for the mark sensor, a signal is output through connector P7 pin 4. "L"
level signal is output when a mark of the recording paper is aligned with the
sensor or when there is no recording paper. This signal is boosted by
approximately 5 times via MAX4163EUA (IC38) and is transferred to the
MAIN CPU.

Electric Circuit Diagrams

OPERATION interface and power interface section

The OPERATION interface section transfers to the OPERATION BOARD
the data from the LCD controller, control signals from the POWER
BOARD and different supply voltages.
The power interface section transfers to the OPERATION BOARD control
signals from the POWER BOARD.

4 - 11
Chapter 4

Power generator section

Inputting +5 V to DC-DC converter generates the MAIN CPU core voltage
+1.9 V. Output voltage VOUT is set by the following expression according
to R51, R52 and R53.

VOUT=0.8(1+R51/(R52+R53))

Clock generator section

The clock generator section generates clock frequencies necessary for the
MAIN CPU, MAIN G/A and other control ICs.
MG-5100SA-FD (X1) outputs 16 MHz, 7.3728 MHz and 32 MHz.
MG-5100SA-FD (X2) outputs 14.318 MHz, 38.362 MHz, 25.175 MHz and
50 MHz.
CY2305SC-1 (IC8) outputs 32 MHz.

The outputs of differential amplifier are converted to digital signals by A-D
converters.
The electrocardiographic signals in digital forms are transferred to the
MAIN BOARD via the AMP G/A.
The ECG AMP BOARD block is electrically isolated by photo-couplers
and isolation power supply.

The electric field intensity from fixed

RF transmitter determined by an
investigation of field electromagnetism (a)
must be lower than the conformity
level at each frequency band (b).

Interference may occur in the vicinity

of a device where the following symbol
is indicated.

Note 1. In case of 80 MHz and 800 MHz, apply a high frequency range.
Note 2. The guideline does not apply to all circumstances. The electromagnetic diffusion is affected by reflection and absorption by
structure, thing and person.
a. It is impossible to accurately and theoretically estimate the electric field intensity from a stationary sending station such as radio
telephone base station (cord-less), local portable radio station, amateur radio station, AM/FM radio broadcasting station and TV base
station. For correctly judging the environment of electromagnetism due to stationary RF sending station, proceed to a field
electromagnetism investigation. If the electric field intensity recorded at a site where the equipment is used exceeds the above applied
RF conformity level, watch the equipment to verify whether it operates properly or not. If its operation is found abnormal, the
equipment may have to be modified to match, be moved to another place or be subjected to supplementary means.
b. The electric field intensity must be 3 V/m or less over the entire frequency band of 150 MHz to 80 MHz.

Technical Instructions Related to EMC

Recommended distance of separation from portable telephone, etc.

The following shows the recommended distance of separation of the

equipment from portable or mobile RF communication devices.

Recommended distance of separation of equipment from portable or mobile RF communication devices

The equipment is intended to be used in the electromagnetic environment where the RF
interference is regulated. Client or user of the equipment can suppress the electromagnetic
interference by controlling the minimum distance between portable or mobile RF
communication device (transmitter) and this equipment as recommended below based on the
maximum output of the sending device.
Separate distance due to frequency of transmitter
m
26MHz to 80MHz 80MHz to 800MHz 800MHz to 2.5GHz

1 1.2 1.2 2.3
10 3.8 3.8 7.3
100 12 12 23
In case of a maximum rated power output not listed above, recommended distance of
separation d in terms of meters (m) can be determined by an equation corresponding to the
transmitter frequency. In the equation, P is the maximum rated power output in Watts (W) of
transmitter.

Note 1. In case of 80 MHz to 800 MHz, apply a high frequency band for the separate distance.

Note 2. The guideline does not apply to all circumstances. The electromagnetic diffusion is
affected by reflection and absorption by structure, thing and person.
