Procedure Summary
This procedure is to walk someone through the process of collecting vSphere diagnostic logs.

Procedure Steps: Collect vSphere Diagnostic Logs

A. Collecting logs from vSphere client connected to vCenter:


1. Use vSphere client to connect to vCenter
2. Highlight vSphere Cluster

3. Go to File  Export  Export System Logs


4. Choose the desired host(s) to collect logs from. If the cluster is selected, logs will be
collected from all hosts. Check “Include information from vCenter and vSphere Client”.
Click Next.

5. Check “Gather Performance Data”. Click Next

6. Click Browse and select desired location to save logs. Click Next.

7. Click Finish

8. Logs are saved in the selected directory in .tgz format

B. Collecting logs from vSphere client connected directly to a host:


1. Use vSphere client to connect directly to a host.
2. Highlight vSphere Host

3. Go to File  Export  Export System Logs


4. Check “Gather performance data”, click Next

5. Click Browse and select desired location to save logs.

6. Click Finish

7. Logs are saved in the selected directory in .tgz format
