Subject: How to Reset the RAIGE Password for vSTAC Product

Procedure Summary
This procedure is to walk someone through the process of resetting a password on a vSTAC
Array that has been forgotten by the user.

Procedure Steps: Reset the password on Pivot3 vSTAC Array/Appliance

Important: This procedure requires the use of a USB key. Do not use a USB key with data on it
-- the key may be formatted as part of this procedure and the data will be lost.

A. For ESXi 4.1 with ROS 5.01:


1. Obtain a blank USB key that has a capacity of at least 16MB.
2. Ensure RAIGE Director is not running.
3. Insert a blank USB into the top USB slot on the back of any appliance in the array.
4. Wait for approximately 1 minute.
5. Remove the USB key from the appliance. A P3DK\.dbexport file should be recreated.
6. E-mail the .dbexport file to a Pivot3 Support Engineer. The file will be in a P3DK
directory on the USB key and will have the same name as the appliance you inserted
the key into.
7. The email should be done as follows:

8. Once support receives your email it will be processed. Pivot3 will generate a file named
0.rtask and e-mail it back to you along with the new username and password.
9. Once it has been processed, you should receive a response similar to the following:

Once you receive the e-mail from Pivot3:


10. Using the same USB Key - delete the existing p3dk\.dbexport (do not reformat this
key).
11. Recreate the folder P3DK (Right clickNew Folder).
12. Save the 0.rtask file into the P3DK directory on the USB key from the zip file in the
email called PasswordReset.zip.
13. Insert USB back in to the top USB slot on the appliance.
14. Watch for the USB activity indicator to stop flashing. If there’s no activity indicator, wait
for about 1 minute.
15. Remove the USB key from the appliance.
16. To verify the operation was successful, look at the .log file in the P3DK directory. It can
be opened using WordPad.
17. Launch RAIGE Director and log in with the user name and password provided by Pivot3:
Username: admin
Password: Pivot3!

You can then add a username and password to the Administrative privileges of
pivot3/pivot3

B. For ESXi 5.x with vSTAC Manager 5.x:

1. Obtain a blank USB key that has a capacity of at least 16MB.


2. Ensure RAIGE Director is not running.
3. Connect to any vSphere host that is hosting a member of the targeted vSTAC array via
vSphere client [using root/associated password].

4. Insert a BLANK USB key into the same machine that’s running vSphere client.
5. Highlight RAIGE_VM on the left panel.
6. Select the Console tab in the right frame or open a Console window for the selected
VM.
7. Click on USB connection icon to connect USB to vSTAC OS VM.

8. Wait for approximately 1 minute.


9. Remove the USB key from client machine. A P3DK\.dbexport file should be recreated.
10. E-mail the .dbexport file to a Pivot3 Support Engineer. The file will be in a P3DK
directory on the USB key and will have the same name as the appliance you inserted
the key into.

15. Recreate the folder P3DK (Right clickNew Folder).
16. Save the 0.rtask file into the P3DK directory on the USB key from the zip file in the
email called PasswordReset.zip.
17. Insert USB back in to the same client machine running vSphere client.
18. Watch for the USB activity indicator to stop flashing. If there’s no activity indicator, wait
for about 1 minute.
19. Remove the USB key from the appliance.
20. To verify the operation was successful, look at the .log file in the P3DK directory. It can
be opened using WordPad.
21. Launch RAIGE Director and log in with the user name and password provided by Pivot3:
Username: admin
Password: Pivot3!
You can then add a username and password to the Administrative privileges of
pivot3/pivot3

Procedure Verification

The user is successfully able to log into the Array and view all appliances on the network under
the Physical tab in RAIGE Director.
