Break-out Title/Topic: Straight White Men Play Discussion Resources Time

Introductions: Students and their mentor will share a highlight of their week as if they
were News Anchors sharing a story. When each person is done sharing, they will pass
to the next Anchor.

- Students will be shown the whiteboard they made the week prior of
information about the playwright
- Students will briefly summarize the play Straight White Men

- In breakout groups of three, students will discuss the following questions:


 What are your thoughts on the characters?
 Did you have any questions while reading the play?
 Were there any images that came up while you were reading?
 What was the play’s theme/ message?
 What did you take away from the play?

- Students will meet back at the end to share their groups ideas with the class. Breakout group  10

- Have students summarize key points in the discussion


- Ask students if the discussion helped their understanding of the play
