Millennial: Youth in Power

It is thrilled to share about my observation on millennials for the past few years. Many of them are
innovative in the fields where they were in, industrious and determined to pursuing their dreams,
creative in all ways, and ambitious to obtaining development and change in life. Those millennials have
proven that living in new era is no longer a problem but a big opportunity.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of former Facebook Company which is now the META company, is the
epitome of a successful millennial despite all the hardships, rejections, and failures he went through. He
strived and thrived to chase his dreams. One of teary-eyed part of his story is that he invited all of his
friends to discuss new ideas, and yet among them, only three came. They were Dustin Moskovitz, Chris
Hughes and Eduardo Saverin. Despite the number of attendees, Mark and his three friends were able to
create the Facebook, then later on became known worldwide. For that reason, all of them have become
billionaires and successful millennials who are popular around the world. Not only him, but there are
several millennials who are successful as well. One among them is Lyqa Maravilla who is notable for
being an online educator. Her free contents on YouTube help people to pass exams such as aptitude,
civil service, and college entrance examination. These two millennials are the embodiments of
empowered young people.

Aside from that, I also witnessed the other side of millennials. There are millennials engaging themselves
into teenage pregnancy and gradually killing themselves with vices.

This will include 60,000 plus who will give birth in 2021 and about 100,000 minors who continue
to be heads of their families from previous years,” POPCOM Executive Director Juan Antonio
Perez III said in an online forum organized by the University of the Philippines (UP). “This is a
growing number.
