1 Introduction to the Carlyle Group

 The Carlyle Group is an American multinational and one of the world’s largest and most

diversified global investment firms in private equity industry.

 This company was Founded in 1987 in Washington, DC, with global team comprised

with more than 1,800 professionals operating in 26 offices across 5 continents.

 The Carlyle completed a US$700 million initial public offering on May 3, 2012, and

started trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange.

 Currently, It has $293 billion of assets under management as of September 30, 2021,

across 3 business segments and 433 investment vehicles.

 This company distributes private capital across three business segments: global private

equity, global credit, and global investment solutions. 

The Carlyle is a corporation that specializes in alternative asset management and financial

services. Its areas of expertise include private equity, real estate, and private credit. According to

the PEI 300 index, Carlyle was the world's largest private equity firm by capital raised over the

preceding five years in 2015, but by 2020 it had slid to second position.

Their products include Leveraged buyouts, Growth capital, Energy, Energy lending, structured

credit, Real estate. Carlyle's mission is to invest responsibly and generate value for its clients,

portfolio businesses, and the communities in which they live and invest.

The Carlyle company was founded by William E. Conway Jr., Daniel A. D'Aniello, and David

Rubenstein in 1987 34 years ago in Washington, D.C. as an investment banking boutique.

In October 2017, The Carlyle Group announced that its founders would remain executive

chairmen on the board of directors but step down as the day-to-day leaders of the firm; they

named Glenn Youngkin and Kewsong Lee to succeed them, AS co-chief executive officer, in

January 1, 2018.

At the end of September 2020, Youngkin retired from the firm and Mrs. Lee continued as sole

CEO of the company.

The Carlyle Group has raised $110 billion in 44 funds, the most recent of which being Europe

Technology Partners IV. This fund was announced on December 24, 2019, and it raised €1.4

The Carlyle Group has bought a total of 164 businesses. CNSI was their most recent purchase,

which occurred on December 2, 2021.


1.6. Investments:

The Carlyle Group has made a total of 272 investments. YipitData raised $475 million on

December 6, 2021, which was their most recent investment.

1.7. Diversity Investments:

The Carlyle Group has made seven diversity investments. Ampere Computing was their most

recent diversity investment, which they made on April 11, 2019.
